A guy at work has on pants so loud I need ear and eye protection. A shade of green somewhat louder than golf ball green. He says they're golf pants, but I thought you were supposed to be quiet on the golf course.

So, today was our "pinning ceremony", which is kind of like clinical/program graduation. I'd spent two years with these women, and I knew a bunch of them were damn fine lookikng ladies, but I'd only ever seen them in a clinical/hospital setting. Today everyone was all "prettied up", and all I can say is DAMN. One looked like a supermodel, no joke.

And since these two fine ladies had no date for tomorrow night's celebration. I am their date. They both have boyfriends, but I don't care, I'm walking in there with one on each arm.

Marines used to get "pinned" when we got promoted, but that turned into "Hazing" because people always have to go overboard...

My wife had a pinning ceremony for RN (2 year degree)...
Is that what you have been studying?

Was reading something about russia this week, and had an epiphany.
(Complete lightning bolt thought out of blue sky)

Muskopf = Moosehead

Seriously. I never made the connection before. I almost fell over. :brickwall:

Back to your regularly scheduled program...

Also, I've gotten into cricket. The T20 IPL tourney ends tomorrow night, my friend and I will probably be the only Marines watching, surrounded by a bunch of Indians. Good times.

Good luck. She got one of those $300-500 cram courses to top off and she was successful...

Also, she out-earns me now. (Not that I'm anything special, but she is, and she's gotten rewarded for excellent work over the years.) Just sayin'. Great occupation to be in.

Hope so. I'm technical, I like to teach, and enjoy helping my patients. Started out as a lifeguard in the summer and a ski instructor in the winter. This looks to be a good fit for me really, better than my last vocation. It's kinda brutal, but I love it, and nobody parties quite like a bunch of graduating nursing students. The debauchery I have witnessed and taken part in over the past couple weeks!

Heather worked the floor for 6 years. We kept moving, so she didn't always get the best schedules/pay, always being the "new guy"... But each time she made it to charge nurse pretty quickly. Usually 3 x 12 hr shifts.
Before I started my long business trip, she got this wicked awesome 9-5 no weekends/holidays position (+$3/hr raise) working in "quality". I guess her team basically makes sure that the treatment provided is documented correctly for insurance claim purposes. Or something like that. Her corrections net the hospital money. Very challenging. Pretty sweet stuff. She plans to start an online bridge program to get her Masters. (MSN) We'll probably pay cash for the degree, but may get mostly re-imbursed by the hospital. I don't know what she's going to specialize in, but hope it's one of those crazy $100k+ Hospital Admin jobs so I can deliver pizza and live happily ever after upon retiring from the Marines.

So I'm collecting signatures for a petition to legalize medical marijuana in Oklahoma. We have to get 155,000 signatures within 90 days, then it will go to a vote of the people in November. 7% sales tax, 75 % of that goes to education, 25 % goes to drug & alcohol rehab.
$125 application fee for an individual to get a med mj card that lasts for their life. If your in Oklahoma & want to sign the petition, there is a list of sites to sign at legalizeok.org, and some related information at oklahomansforhealth.com. You have to be a registered voter in Oklahoma.

So today I get a call from a guy with a temperature gooahj from a 1965 F-150 that has a broken wire he wants me to solder. I get these odd can you solder this requests every now & then. Usually ask for $5 or $ 10 cash depending on what it is, usually takes 5 minutes.
So I did this one for free. His gooahj now has 10 ohms across the 2 terminals that the coil hooks up too. I did it for free just because I felt like being nice, & it only took maybe 4 minutes. Then asked him to sign the petition & he did.

I began 3 sentences with So. So what

Oh, look the new forum software, the word gage spelled properly with a u is gooahj. & I thought it was fixed

Apparently today was National Drive Like A Complete Fucking Idiot Day. I wish they had mentioned it on the news, I would have called in sick. When I got home, I got out of the truck and kissed the driveway.

So that's why those asshats in the jacked up Dodge pickup came up on me at 80 at 6AM 5 feet off my bumper.

Interesting, I had the same experience on drive like a fucking idiot day. Two backed up lanes of hwy traffic, I'm in the left which is slowly moving along at about 8mph. Asshat construction worker in the right lane (was wearing his reflective vest in his rusted out Chebby truck) puts his signal on to pull out. We're all moving along, and in my book of driving, a signal in this situation is a request, not a mandate to me that I let him in. I didn't let him in, so he cuts off the person behind me and swings in 2" off my bumper, flashing his highbeams.

Once we got clear of traffic I moved to the right lane and made a motion out my window like "be my guest, all clear for you" (palm upward) to which he screamed FUCK YOU and gave me the middle finger salute while not watching where he was driving. I decided to ignore and let it go, whatever.

As he moved away into other traffic I saw similar cut everyone off, switch lanes, be a complete cockbag to everyone else so he can exit 5 cars ahead of me when his exit comes. Nice job.

Hypermiling drivers are self-absorbed dolts. Coasting to the red light, starting 1/4 to 1/8th of a mile away from the intersection, these morons are in their own little world. It infuriates me, particularly when I'm behind them and I'm trying to get closer to the intersection and the beginning of the right turn lane to efficiently and quickly get to my destination.

Oh. I didn't know that was called hypermiling. I thought that was just how you drive if you have no brakes...
Did that once in an Explorer. Got to the shop after a pretty uneventful drive. We were so relieved that we forgot about the no brake situation and BLASTED the coke machine in front of the shop. When the guy came out to see what all the racket was, he actually asked us what we were there for. As if crushing NASCAR ad covered coke machines was a normal beginning for a transaction.
We laughed SO hard.

Hypermiling doesn't work so well when the people that you irritate while doing so just STOMP on the gas pedal as they zoom passed you. So much for any less emissions. Way to go on your personal MPG's (really), but it's still overall doing more harm than good at that point.

Dearest neighbor,
I don't zing your yappy ass dog with tennis balls anymore at 6am or 11pm, 'cause I thought we had that conversation. You dumping all that damn ice storm debris onto our easement, that I found just now, is not going to go well for you now that I have to burn all of that shit. Well into the night I might add. Sober? Not a chance. It's been a real ball knocker of a week, and now I'm burning your shit. Oh, and for our added enjoyment, all of my mono-syllabic speaking friends have been in invited over, . . . nuh huh. There are at least three diesel drivers too, as I have now decided that I have some stumps to pull.

We had a brief but nasty thunderstorm roll through town yesterday. Here's a photo someone took from one of the taller buildings; no Photoshop involved.

Image

We got some golf ball-sized hail out of that bidness... Local body shops will be busy for a while, and there will be some deals to be had on damaged inventory at several dealerships. The only damage to speak of at home was on my kid's Mustang convertable; the top kinda got perforated and the rear window had some new vent openings created. That along with the dimples on the hood and trunk lid made a crappy car crappier still. I'm still a bit miffed that he bought the doggone thing, but now I just wish he'd just get rid of it.

My 528e was parked on the street right behind the Mustang, and I think it got one little ding on the hood from the storm. :ohyeah:

Today I enjoyed an exhilarating sun shower and wondrous full rainbow at the same time. It was so magical I decided to take my unicorn out for a ride to complete the day.

Trey - bonus points if your unicorn was named Butt Stallion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SfDiD8tUT8

Dave - that picture is incredible. I'd say it's a shame about the Mustang, but, well ... you know. Comprehensive claim? Total? What are those things even worth? They were really pretty horrible automobiles if memory serves. The 80s were not a good time to be buying US automobiles.

If it had full coverage it'd prolly be totaled, but it's got liability & medical only. As it sits I'd be surprised if he'd get $500 for it.

The format/spelling/punctuation of your post bothers me more than the new layout around here. He who lives in glass houses.... But don't be offended, if you have been around enough to make the format call you know you shouldn't be. Post up more often!

Well that's funny. I thought it was prose, and haiku crossed my mind...but I counted it up and thought a haiku went 3, something and something adding up to 17 (only sometimes the case?). Regardless, I am an idiot. I should have paid better attention in grade school.

Beautiful haiku, by the way!

I had to share this quote from an article I was reading this am:

The use of “pretentious diction” demonstrates the speaker can’t communicate, is full of crap or is indifferent.

edit: here's the article
https://www.linkedin.com/today/post/art ... st-large_0

I feel like I work on a buzzword, corporate planet. "At the end of the day" is still the conversational crutch of many that I work with and shows no signs of getting phased out. It's getting to the point where every time I hear it, my brain freezes for 10-15 seconds and I can't follow anything else the person says until I am able to focus in again.
