skis, eh? what kind of skis?

also, is that a standard yakima rack? i have two lying around somewhere and i've never tried to fit it to my e28. what length bars are they? the two racks that i have have different length bars (one is long for an SUV and the other is just barely long enough to work on the 911). I was hoping to use the one from the 911 on the E28 now that the 911 has been repainted and won't be going skiing anymore, but I can't tell if the bars will be long enough.

Atomic Beta Race 10.20. Great ski, but a little too long for me now, I don't have the strength to make them do what they're capable of anymore.

If the rack you have is the type that mounts to the rain gutters, you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure the bars are the shortest that they sell, ie the "standard length". The ones you have are either long enough or will extend over the edges of the car slightly. Either way works.

I bought the ski racks and wind deflector just a few years ago, so I know the parts are still available. The racks there originally bought for an e24.

yea, those badboys are pretty unforgiving; quite aggressive. I have a friend who had them and she found them a little too "squirrely". I have a similarly aggressive ski and they're great on the groomers, but in deep powder they're only adequate. I tried a pair of those really wide powder skis in some really deep shit back to back with my normal ones, and the difference was absolutely stunning.

No, but the car is from Jersey. I've just been too lazy to remove the inspection sticker. It's been there almost 3 years.

I'm in Ct/Mass.

Is it Graphit Metallic? I am trying to figure out what color mine is and yours is the closest I've seen. Somewhere between Diamondschwarz, too dark, and Delphin, which looks too light.

Clean and in the shade, it looks almost black, in the sun more of a gray. In the 2 pics below you can see what I mean.

I've seen a Graphit example pop up on the colors thread, but it is damn hard to judge by photos

I know that on US cars you can just decode the VIN for the paint code, but mine has a different kind of number stamped into the chassis because, I believe, it was a CKD car assembled locally (Thailand). I don't think any of the digits correspond to a color code. --Chris

My car is Delphin Metallic w/original paint. Your car looks like it might be the same color based on the top picture.

Graphite Metallic was an early e28 color, only available for the first 2-3 years of production.
