1972 BMW Bavaria

Found this while searching craigslist, thought you all might be interested.

1972 Bavaria that runs and drives, but could still use some help. I bought it about a year ago along with another BMW from the same guy. It wasn't running and I let this one sit while I drove and worked on the other car. After I sold the other car I started on this one.

What I have done so far:
Billy sport shocks
lowering springs
ST big sway bars with poly bushings front and rear
rebuilt front calipers
center support bearing
dif mount
Toyo R888's - yes that is what I said R888's
water pump
power steering pump ( no belt as I like the way it feel without it) have a belt in the trunk
alternator
battery
valve cover gasket
coil
plug wires
plugs, dist cap, rotor, points, fuel filter
Piper X air filters
valve cover breather filter

Like I said it runs and drives well. It still needs work. The interior needs some love. The paint is tired. It looks better in the photos than it really does. There are some rust bubbles and the clear is starting to come up in places. The rear floor pans need to be patched or replaced. There is also one small spot in the trunk and a bit where the drivers foot well and the trans tunnel meet. There oil pressure light and the alternator light don't work - this could be as easy as cleaning the contacts behind the dash. I haven't gotten around to it. I **** dealing with electrical shit on a car.
Probably some other small things I am forgetting right now.

I am on the fence about selling it, but I thought I would put it out there. I am open to trades, but I will not be putting money on top.

I also have a m30 b34 or 35 sitting around. Can't remember which it is. We could talk about that.

Lets just say that the seller of a Bav that is rusty enough to need new floors, along with other potential panels repaired/replaced, paint, electricals, etc.,etc., priced at $4200 will be keeping the car.

That's a friend of mine's car. Doesn't need as much floor repair as you might think. With Bavaria prices all over the place I don't see this as an unrealistic asking price. If you've ever done floor work it isn't all that bad.

BTW - I love it when a man makes a pricing comment on another man's car he has for sale. Classy! Let the man sell his car. If you have some instructive pricing advise for him, PM him.

There is a reason I didn't post it here. The longer I am on this forum the more belligerent people seem to be. IF you are one of the guys with lots of posts or your car isn't perfect, it gets trashed. I don't mind criticism when it is CONSTRUCTIVE. That is what forums are for help and constructive remarks. Yes, being snarky starts out funny, but some of you guys are past snarky - you just come off as a holes to those that don't know you or the poor new guy that shows up looking for help.

Buzzbomb - my problem is the tone of your comment not your opinion. You could have said the same thing in several different ways.

And maybe it is priced high for California. You guys have it great out there car wise. Here, it is a little different. These are harder to find.

Either way, I'm not upset. Everybody just go back to what you were doing and I will sell my car for what I want to sell it for.

I do think some people on this forum need to think about why they are here and why the forum was created and exists before they post what ends up being just another snide comment that may turn another potential car guy/ BMW guy to go the other direction. Car enthusiasts are a dwindling breed.

It looks like a fun project, just not for me because I'm not wanting to do any panel work at that price point.

You completely misunderstood my post. I didn't imply that the car was being sold for more than it was worth. I celebrated the fact that a clean, un-screwed with car commanded a more reasonable price, as opposed to another member's inplication that it was too high.
You seem like an intelligent guy that knows what he's selling. My only real advice is to get "friends" that aren't such dick-wads- that's not your fault though, they seem to attach themselves to people far better than themselves.

You're so right! I know nothing about cars or what makes them go! And to top it off, people stop saying "fuck off" when they grow up. Who knew? (By the way, you misused you're, and you misspelled sophomoric, Mr. scholarship winner. You should buy that Hummer for sale, since you obviously have your own shortcomings...)
