After 2 Years of Lurking....Hello,

I finally got mine. 84 533i with an auto (5speeds are hard to find up here). It doesn't run or go (cranks but doesn't turn over and transmission needs work, too). But the body is straight and the interior hasn't been destroyed. For $800, I can't complain about much.

I did have to get right on the repairs. Trunk is leaking bad. Had to pull all the carpeting, kill some mold, dump 40lbs of kitty litter in the trunk, and seal it with some duct tape. Until it runs and drives I can't get it into my garage.

There is some scaly rust near the trunk latch and a scary bit of paint bubbling in a corner. The paint is pretty much done for all around the car.

All in all, I'm very happy right now.

Thank you. No, I have't got a Bentley manual. Been reading post s about common no-start problems.

First, I realized my battery is weak. So I jumped the battery. The engine would fire really rich but wouldn't quite turn over.

I think I'll try to unplug the O2 sensor and/or remove Cold Start Valve.

But I still have a lot of reading to do.

I'd say pass on the Bentley. It costs too much relative to how much you paid for the car. Steal free chapters off the Internet where possible. And don't forget...
