hi,

im new to these forums, so i thought i'd share some pictures. i just bought this 535i. it's an 87 automatic and has 160k miles. the pics are not so great, but i figured i'd post them anyhow. these are of the car after i drove it home two days ago:















hopefully it'll clean up pretty nice, the paint seems better than the paint on my 528e from the same year. i'd like to convert the front bumper, add front and rear spoilers, replace the suspension, and possibly convert it to manual. i'll post some updates once i get it back from the shop.

update:

just got it back from the shop, now it passes emissions

i was wondering, whats the best way to go about doing a transmission swap? it needs a new drive shaft anyhow, what else am i going to need to replace if i go with a swap? what else could i replace while its all disassembled? new radiator? anyone want an automatic transmission?

oh also, where is the factory build sheet supposed to be?

The build sheet should be under your rear seat, stapled to one of the support brackets. Looks like you did well with the purchase!

Gorgeous example! Where you find it? Looks like the engine bay was detailed every week by the previous owner ~0 I'm impressed! Hey, if you decide you want to sell it and forego the auto to 5spd swap, shoot me an email No, seriously...send me an email! I don't think I've ever seen those wheels on an e28 before so they must be rare as the others here have noted.

Are you a particle physics scientist out in NM by chance? I just had to ask...with a name like Collider and a location like NM...one might assume you're one of those guys out in the desert smashing tiny bits of matter into each other. Do tell

The driveshaft is about it, although you probably want new trans mounts in there.

new radiator? anyone want an automatic transmission?

Radiator is a 20-minute job when/if you need to do it. The old one will work fine with the manual. And, no, I don't.
