New shoes and a bit of a story

Post by sutton »

Hey all. I've been a lurker, more or less, on these boards for a few years now. I got my E28 after my first year of university, against all advice from my friends, who thought it'd be a piece of shit money dump that I'd never use. Found this one on kijiji, got my hockey coach / mechanic to check it out, and he said that I'd have a hard time finding a better car of this vintage. So I said ok and bought it. May of 2008 I guess that would be.

The only real problems I've had were cold weather related power issues. Oh, and one time my water pump exploded and I had to replace that, and I replaced a wheel bearing and heater switch. Also some window bracket greasing etc. One time my power steering/brakes failed and as I was driving home from the insurance place after uninsuring it (was going traveling for a few months) it magically came back, and has been back for 2 years since.

Point is, I don't have the time or money to have as beautiful of a car as most of you do (I find time to look at all the eye candy i can though), but I've managed to keep it running and have learned a lot in the process. A relative gave me these wheels that he had from an old E28. It's the first cosmetic thing I've done to my car. I know my license plate is bent... it's not properly installed and got dinged in the car wash.

Thanks for the kind words!

The Mahles have not been sold. Still got em. My winter tires got stolen last winter, and the Mahles have all-seasons on them, so the plan was to put them back on for winter (because the tires on now are summer tires).

However... my dad bought a new car, and gave me his old one to have until I move away for school, so I'm planning on selling my E28 before the snow falls this year. I'll get some good photos soon and then ask you guys what a fair price is.
