New sound system for the M5

[AT8M5]

I soldered the stock tweeter connectors on to the MB Quart units.

Front speakers out, MB Quarts ready to go in with custom adapter plates.


Made a lot of progress and would have made more but the girl around the corner with the 1967 Mini Cooper S stopped by to talk cars and I tried to get her drunk.

I would run the iPod cable down the center console, under the ebrake console and out between the brake and drivers seat.

I think I had several quarts of water, it was very hot in the garage. I saved the serious drinking until later.

That's what I was thinking too if the cable is long enough. I would probably have it pop out on the passenger side though.

I didn't get too much done on the stereo today because I was sidetracked doing stuff that helps the car go, stop and not blow up.
The driver's & passenger side subwoofers went in.

Using some of the parts that came with the subwoofer.




Mounted to a wood base so it clears those vent thingys under the front seat.

I was going to use this to go from the battery to the two +12v inputs on the amp but I decided to get one that's fused.

Wrapping cloth electrical tape on the wires that will feed the battery and switched wires to he head unit so it will look moar original.




Tied into the factory AUX fuse holder as God, Blaupunkt and BMW intended.

Funny thing about Brothers in Arms is that it's a completely digital recording. Laughed at the LP I have which says "DDA" (digital recording, digital master, analog pressing).

Those recordings are so good, you can hear Marks fingers on the strings. Love it.

Why yes, yes I did. You've always had an eye for detail.

I got the head unit in and playing. It was challenging to get all that wiring tucked in.


I'm still not sold on the Ipod routing but this is how I'm rolling to Monterey. I need to find a longer cable that can exit farther back on the E-brake console.
