to rack or not to rack...

Just an opinion as to if I should keep the roof rack there for Vintage, or to go rackless. The original plan was to deliver an iS airdam to another board member here at Vintage, neccessitating a roof rack. However, if he decides not to go, then I will not need it. I took the rack off to prep the car for shadowlining. What do you think?

I don't really get the concept of a roof rack as a fashion accessory...if you need to haul something, put it on. If not, take it off.

You can ask Leonard, don, skip, or Jeff... I carry a lot of stuff on that rack! I like it as a fashion accessory on some cars, but when I built mine I built it for heavy duty hauling. It sure as shit ain't pretty!

I vote no rack. I have one on my car only to haul the bikes, if I didn't need it, it wouldn't be there.

I see the point if its function over fashion though.

I say rack. You don't see many with racks, and it's a tasteful one too, so keep the rack.

Also, have you ever uttered the words "dude, look at the lack of rack on that chick", exactly, no, it's always "dude, look at her rack"... food for thought.

rack costs fuel mileage. Weigh your options. You can always pull it off and throw it into the weeds to pick it up later...

In use (before lowering):

I have also carried a full manifold -back exhaust system, a partial exhaust system, strollers, 2 sets of 16"+ size wheels with and without tires, and seats, tools, bags, christmas gifts, dead bodies...

I will once the frame rail gets straightened. Otherwise I'd rather look like I intentionally took it off than roll with a crooked shifted bumper.

For Vintage though it looks like I will be carrying an M5 airdam so it will be on top for the 6 hour trip.

I'm usually a fan of function or absence, but I think it adds a lot of character to you rig (maybe because I'm used to seeing it there). I also like the use of wood. Not a fan of the standard black finished bars at all.

But please, put the chrome back on the kidneys

I love my black kidneys. I have to finish up my shadowline this week and redo the grilles and paint the door handles. I took a break this last week. NTM my wife's car needs rear pads and a good cleaning.

This weekend for sure though.
