stumbled across this sexy beast while searching Lemans blue e28's. the description doesnt say the color although it does hint at Lemans blue. in my opinion it looks like a Lemans/Estoril mix

Don't care much for that color. The M-Tech kit is also a bit unattractive. Sweet wheels though.

It could be an M535i (it does have the badge that just says M instead of M5 on the front grille.)

To me, the M-Tech kit only looks good on some colors, like white. The main reason I didn't like it on that particular car is because I feel like the kit paired up with that color makes it a bit rice. That's just my opinion, and like I said, I don't think the M-Tech kit is necessarily unattractive, it just doesn't work with every color.

Whether you like it or not, the paint work on that car is dynamite - look at the reflections in the side, it's like glass.

Don't particularly like that blue either, but the photos make it hard to tell just what color that is.
He's got the color balance so whacked in them who knows what blue that's supposed to be. Someone got a little too heavy-handed in PS.

I personally see nothing wrong with an M-Tech kit in blue with almost the same BBS wheel

Too much homostretch. Tupperware kit is a fail too.. Colour? Meh.

I think its nice to see something out of the norm.

some of you guys need to be less tempermental, yes i agree the color is obviously not the best choice although its not hard to appreciate beauty. I personally would rather own an alpine white e28 although must admit that i do like that blue..

This is E28 M5 VIN 1018560 and it the paint is original to this car. It is SONDERLACKIERUNG Minerva Blue metallic which was a Porsche color.

I stand corrected good info, now what does sonderlackierun mean, assuming something to do with speciality paint? that porsche looks so close to estoril

Sonderlackierung means "special paint." Could sometimes be a BMW color, but not one available to the model.

Don't forget that lighting, white-balance, etc in digital photography makes a HUGE difference in how colors are portrayed. Just searching for the Minerva Porsche, there were at least 20 different variations of the color.

X2 with elaboration. Since BMW must put a paint sticker on every car they turn out, they made up the "Sonderlackierung" stickers for non-stock paints. Otherwise, they'd feel compelled to print up a sticker with the actual name of the paint on it. You know how those Germans can be ...

Also, it's clear from the underhood shots that it is not an M5. It's an M535i.

Back in the day when you could order a US car painted something other than the stock offerings, they did the same thing - the trim tag on my '61 Bonneville is marked 'Special' in the blank for the paint code.

I once owned an early M635i,
true euro car,
it too came with Sonderlackierung Paint.
This car's color was Blau-Schwarz,
amd had the e24 Mtech kit,
Headlight washers and Water Buffalo interior...

My opinion for years. That is why I went the AC Schnitzer route. The cut lines on the side skirts are "fussy" and the whole skirt looks tacked on compared to the sculptured ACS one. Again my opinion. I like the black rub "strip" that goes all the way around the car (side molding) and in white or lighter color this disappears in front and rear. Leaving just the black side molding to "tie" the look together.

The biggest problem with the kit is that the side skirts are mounted about 25mm too low. They should sit right below the doors.

Personally, I don't like the kit at all, but it grew on me when I bought an M535i.
