Ted,

You need to update your website. The content and flyer are from last year's event.

And, all the best with Tedfest 2011.

I'm there. Might have to fly in from the west coast. Looking like I might be headed out that way for a contract job soon.

I just innocently brought it up to my wife who threw the TV clicker at me and said "you go". What would the drive from SE Pennsylvania be like?

Nothing like as bad as the sleeping on the front porch for weeks afterward.

Since Fest West in Oregon is the same weekend as 5er Fest in Pittsburgh, I won't be able to go to Pittsburgh. The good news is that it looks like my big vacation this year will be in Mississauga!

Had a nice 2" snowfall on Sunday and thought I would post a few pics of where the Tedfest BBQ will be held after the car show. Don't worry folks I promise the snow will be gone by then. ;)

I know its way early but is there anything special about crossing the border on 402 north of detroit compared to the niagara side?

Ted, I currently have more snow in my front yard than you have in yours. Something not quite right about that.

Better to go to the crossing further north. No lines.

I know the north one on the Niagara/Buffalo side is the better one. I'm talking about entering from the west north of Detroit. 402 is the north one of the Detroit side crossings.

Agreed with that plus it's alot quicker crossing at Port Huron and getting to my place. its all highway from PH to my casa. 3.5 hours i believe instead of 4.5 hours. ;)

Looking at the map it appears where 402 crosses *is* Port Huron. Are there 2 crossings right there?

Starting to make plans for the trip. :D It's possible I may be in town as early as Tuesday afternoon. Will probably play tourist in Toronto for a couple of days.

Question...what's the drive like going west going towards Calgary? Leaving on Sunday I may want to go at least part of the way West in Canada...I heard there are big mosquitos like Wisconsin...

When I went in 2008 I used the Port Huron crossing and it was great! Nobody there and a fast crossing. Coming back I came through Detroit. Ewwwwwwww...

Toronto to Winnipeg: Great scenery going around the top of the Great Lakes.
Winnipeg to Calgary: Flat and boring but it can be done in 1 day.No different than driving on I 90 through SD and part of MI.
Calgary to Vancouver: The best drive of your life in terms of scenery. The Mountains are beautiful Eric. If you have time going home take the Columbia Ice Fields parkway north from Banff to Jasper Alberta and stay overnight there. Then head back the next morning the same way. Totally different scenery going in the opposite direction. I'll get maps and stuff for you Eric and we can discuss it at Tedfest.Cheers. Ted

Eric,

I can't dispute Ted's comments about the beauty of Northern Ontario, it just adds two days to the trip, AMHIK. If you are going for quick, it is the route through Detroit, Chicago, Minn, Minot and hitting Canada in Saskatchewan. Oh, and the mosquitoes in Northern Ontario and Manitoba hold their own with any in Wisconsin. The Ice Fields parkway is spectacular and worth the diversion. You don't have to retrace your route, you can go west toward Prince George and see the interior of BC following highway 5 all the way to the coast instead. Saves about 200 km.

You make me feel like such a wimp since I always fly to TedFest. I will drive if I go to 5erWest.

Craig
