spend it on a S6S-560G aka V12 6 speed manual transmission.
Just in case you didn't think I was serious about the 550i e28 I've been talking about since I sold the V8 car.
Official build thread will start early next year sometime.
Can you spot the quarter in both pics?

lol@ the quarter.
I thought you were collecting many-piston'd motors.
I guess you only collect one variety of parts at a time?

Wow! After getting to know my Getrag 5 speed a little last summer, that thing looks massive.
Will be watching the build log.

I saw the quarter, too, but my first thought was "DOES NOT FIT!"
I know it will, eventually, though.

I can't wait! If you need some extra hands, I'd be willing to come down for a weekend or six to turn some wrenches.

Interesting. The guys buying wheels have a crisp paper George Washington left over to show the deep dish and you have a nice metal George Washington to show the size of the tranny. I'm guessing you used the same quarter, too.

Ooooo. I can imagine a lot of things.
The thrust of a V12 pushing me back in the seat.
Snicking thru 6 gears.
Pulling up to gas up. Often.
And flashing red lights in my rear view mirror.

More like $150 for another motor.

Or nothing since he has a spare.
I have never encountered a V12 that needed a rebuild. I'm sure people have killed them by overheating or running without oil, but they seem to live forever. They are very understressed.

No kidding. Transmission has to be worth 10x the value of the motor driving it.
Can't wait to see this progress. Good luck.

Rebuild of what? The engine or the trans?
This seems pretty fair.

Is this the 5.0, 5.4 or 6.0 ltr M70 muscle ?
Are you concerned with the tinned pistons and Alusil bore ? If I had one of these I'd have it lined with steel inserts and up the compression with custom pistons. If money was no object that is.
I sometimes dream about digging around in a salvage yard and finding a S70.

850 CSi trans is the only choice.
Aaron,
Get me the exhaust manifolds from your spare motor and George and I will work something out for you for the future.

Made the mistake of showing this thread to my son. He went instant ear to ear grin and asked, "OH! Can we do that to my eta?"
So I turned to my right and repeated the question to Mom.
She said no.
I kept my mouth shut knowing she has a soft spot for LSx's.

Will be staying tuned in for this adventure ! Best of luck Aaron !
Okay please don't flame me here but it looks like the bell housing has provisions for a starter on both sides ? What am I seeing or not seeing here ? I am guessing its for left hand/ right hand steering applications.

Wow- cool! Look on YouTube as I think someone did this to an E24. May be good for tips if you can find the person who did the conversion.
See if you can put the transmission towards the rear for a better weight distribution!
