While I have never seen it firsthand, this won't be the first time I have seen that failure. It's a good thing it didn't fail while driving and hurt the driver or the car. It looks like you guys made a really nice repair. Any more mods planned for the car?

had that happen to me doing about 30 or so didn't realize how bad the rust on them was until the bump sheared the top section off. it actually wasn't scary or anything just kind like getting a flat except the tire was spinning the spring around the strut.

I had to replace the strut housings on my car because they were as thin as paper, but at least they weren't rusted THAT bad.
