Team Polizei E28 - IN ACTION...!

Post by Mats Kinnby »

So, after the season ended with the E28 M5 CSL, we felt we needed som new project to lay our hand on...
It was then obvious that we needed to something about the current traffic situtation, so why not making a 1983 German Police vehicle :alright:

Its a 184 bhp 528iA from 1983, its been equipped with brembo brakes, wide tires with a lot of stretched rubber on, and we also threw on a Koni suspension kit to make it a bit closer to the ground...

Its equipped with a german Polizei sticker set, and a Hella revolving blue light on the roof, high intesity flashing LED lights where the foglights used to be as well as inside the L/R grilles, 140 dB siren with PA speaker function and amber LED strobo in the rear window.

We slimmed down the bumper using only the rubber, making the body apear more slim and emphasize the width of the wheels.

Its now ready to undergo the yearly control that is made of the swedish government, and i think the guys will fall backwards when this baby shows up, dont you?

That is unbelievable! Best e28 out there! Actually the bumpers were a neat idea. How come you didn't leave some of the rear bumper like you did the front?

Nice to hear you like tha build, its a "3-week project" and went well, cant really stand the situation when I have nothing to do... and since the M5 CSL was stripped down and waiting for parts, i brought in the "spare E28 bodyshell" i had standing around the corner and made it honorable again

It had a sunroof anyway so i could not use it for the racecar, so i could just as well do a Polizei dummy, actually im pleased with the results.

Its the front valance you see in the front looking like the bumper, there is actually just the ruvver attached in the front as well.

Some pics from yesterday when i had to evacuate the workshop cause it was a "clean it up or kill myself" situation.

You can see se M5 CSL om one of the pics as well, at least the rear look ok on it :(

I am on it! Will be in a few days though, weather right now is a mess here and not motivating me to even go outside...

Will sell the car within this month, but will make sure to make a few high res pics and a car chase movie clip as well, you can count on it

That's fantastic, if the Swedish government lets that on the road, even better. They should pay you for driving it around! We'd be arrested for impersonating a law enforcement vehicle.

+1 Definitely some rolling shots of the police car chasing the CSL. I would even kick in a monetary donation for a super hi-res shot to be blown up into poster size.

brb, going to order two sets of rear euro bumper rubber.

Gosh, why didn't I think of that? All those crazy bumper threads, and no one EVER came up with that solution.

So fucking kickass. You guys are doing the 5er community proud.

Someone should send this to Alex Roy, the E39 M5 Team Polizei guy.

Sweet car.

I have yet to see one of these ultra golden-monkey's of e28 lore. I love to see a pic...

Here's a scan from this month's 'european car' mag. Slightly different paint scheme, but cool nonetheless...

That was my plan if I had actually gotten Charles' 533. Then I bought a red car.

Looks great! Can you tell us more about the wheels? They look like RZs.

I'm guessing it's just the OEM euro impact strip

It is the rubber strip that goes on the euro bumpers. If you trim it right, you may be able to get decent results using the NA bumper strips. It's worth a shot, anyway.

I think that would be more of a pain than its worth. The shape of the US impact strip don't fit the contour like the euro strip does and it would be too short on the sides. If you wanted to go a cheaper route you'd have better results just buying generic impact strips and affixing them and trimming to size.
