Does anyone know if an E30 e-brake handle would fit on an e28's? I saw a nice option for an E30 that i would like in my car. Obviously I would have to fully remove the plastic housing - so when it's bare metal is it the same?

I don't think the boot is the same...I could be wrong though.
The e30 boot would be too long. What you can do is go to a junkyard and pull the leather boot and handle from an e34 or e32. Easy to find, and much nicer than the stock piece. I also managed to snag an e46 e brake handle which is now on my M5.
If you're interested, depending on the color of your interior, I have brand new leather (AFAIK) shift and E-Brake boots in Cardinal. They were the ones TheArtisan did a while ago so they're good quality and if anyone else who purchased those can confirm that they were OEM (quality) material?
im using one out of an e34, its short and i finished that off with a e36 boot i got for free. im gonna try another boot later on, but for now it looks good.
Well, here it is - the reasons behind my question. I already installed a wood Momo steering wheel and a burl wood shifter - treated myself to an E30 burl brake handle...cut the original plastic sheath in half to match.
