You guys aren't going to believe this, I even find it hard to believe. But hey, I'm not in charge of these things.

Who was it that said, "I love it when a plan comes together"?
Hint: Mr. T.

I've been buying all the necessary parts to change the TB and WP on my 85 528e here on MyE28.com for the past several weeks planning to do the deed while on vacation over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Well, I'd driven the car to, some here in H-Town know John at Champion Imports, to pick up a new Main and Fuel pump relay and blue temp sensor for my 'is' and returned home to install these new parts.
About an hour later, needing to run an errand, jumped into the 'e' and tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, etc, etc, etc.
I thought, "ain't no way my valves just up and came un-adjusted". But I got out, pulled the valve cover, for the heck of it to check them.

While turning the crank, all of a sudden the cam quite turning, and then the crank came to a stop. It was here I knew the belt had jumped one tooth during the start up and had now gotten to the bad spot and stripped.

So, yesterday afternoon, I spent about an hour tearing it all apart and this morning spent about 4 hours cleaning everything up and putting it back together.

I'm thankful:
#1 - for all the sellers, you know who you are, who had the parts available at very good prices.
#2 - for the Bentley seller and the Shop Manual seller.
#3 - for the belt failing in my driveway.
#4 - for contributors to MyE28 archives which were helpful.
#5 - for Rod Paine's site for the great pictures.
#6 - that the car runs better now, didn't run that bad before, just seems to have a little more pep now.

Next project?
Who was it that said, "ya'll come back now, ya hear".

Someone's definition of "luck" - When preparation meets opportunity.

Part two - The harder you work the luckier you get.

Wow, that is lucky. Valves must not have been hurt by turning it over with the starter ' til it jammed either. I've always wondered about that scenario.
I once dodged a bullet when I was vac-ing up water into the intake. I stalled the engine. I went to re-start and the starter jammed the engine. Pulling the plugs freed everything up and all was well.
Same instance, different causes. I wonder if the starter was deliberatly sized to prevent breakage,or is it happenstance?

A bump Thanks to MarkD in NJ and JUNGLISTluder for the good deals on the necessary parts.

I forgot to thank them, personally, in the original post.

It was "Hannibal" (George Peppard) who always said that, not Mr. T. (If T was only the hint, then you're forgiven.) And it was Miss Mona (Dolly Parton) from "Best LIttle Whorehouse in Texas" who said "Y'all come back now, y'hear?"

I'm definitely forgiven then.

But, it wasn't Miss Mona I was referring to, there's another, so guess again.
Hint: Flatt and Scruggs.
