m20 injectors

What is the diference between blue injectors and white injectors on m20 engines. If there is any at all. I am rebuilding i head and notices blue injectors installed on it. My super eta has white injectors, I thinking to use my present injectors as they were cleaned about year ago.

The white topped super eta injectors are the same as the blue topped 2.5i injectors. I dont know why the color codes are different. It could be because the super eta injectors run at 2.5 bar and the 2.5i injectors run at 3 bar. For the same fuel pressure both types of injectors flow the same amount.

Ohm them out. Turbodan knows M20's MUCH better than I do, but something sticks in the back of my mind that Super e's used high impedance injectors and regular e's used low impedance. If you run low's with an ECU designed for highs, you will blow out the output transistors. I don't think there are any issues using highs with a low ECU.

Low impedance meaning about 3 ohms, and high about 16 ohms.

You are correct. 82-87 eta's used low impedance gray topped injectors. I believe this guy has a super eta, so he's alright there. The 88 super eta and 2.5i motors both use high impedance injectors.

That's what I thought, and why he can't use the early ones in the super e.

Is there any way I can check injector by measuring resistance between connectors. Thank you

You dont need to. The super e injectors will work.

If you really want to, you just test the resistance between the two pins on the injector. I think high imp is like 14 -16 ohms.

I would like to see if all injectors I have removed from "new " head are in working condition. That is why I want to see if there is any way to check 'em out if they are in working order or not. All intake walves are clean of any carbon deposits, dude at machine shop told me that, based on what he sees injectors are clean, with good spray patern. Stil, I would like to check if injectors are good by measuring resistance for example.

The best way to insure that they are in good condition would be to send them to one of the companies that specialize in injector cleaning/rebuilding. I've heard nothing but good about Cruzin Performance. http://www.cruzinperformance.com/

what is the difference between part# 0 280 150 715 and 0 280 150 716

The -715 is the 2.5i injector, the -716 is the super eta injector. The only difference is the top color. They share the same specifications.

The -715 is rated at 149cc/min at 3 bar, the -716 is rated at 134cc/min at 2.5 bar. If you correct for the difference in fuel pressure, you'll fine that the injectors flow the exact same amount for the same fuel pressure.

So either kind of injector will flow 149cc/min or 14.2 lb/hr at 3 bar or 135cc/min or 12.9 lb/min at 2.5 bar.

Resistance should be about 15.8 ohms for either type of injector.

Thought I'd update with more thorough info now that you made go look it all up.
