UNBELIEVABLE MATH PROBLEM

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.
Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country.

Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your Head)

1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the Area code...)
2. Multiply by 80
3. Add 1
4. Multiply by 250
5. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number (ex. 555-7061: add 7,061)
6. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
7. Subtract 250
8. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer ??

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next one

Please follow the instructions, and write it down on paper as you are doing it ...

YOUR AGE BY DINING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway---

but your waiter may know!

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH
(DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!)

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read .

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to

go out to eat.

(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold).

3. Add 5.

4. Multiply it by 50.

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...

If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number.

The first digit of this was your original number. (I.e., How many times
you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are..... 8)

Cool. The first one works better in places that don't require the area code. Here in Atlanta we have to dial all ten digits to place a call. In my case I got 678-4441, and I wasn't thinking ahead so I missed out on my middle three digits.

Maybe they could run Canada  but I'm hoping for someone a little smarter for us, we need it.

Would it be wrong to point out that you typed in everything it needed to know to give you back your answer? While it's neat I guess, I think UNBELIEVABLE is a little strong. No offense Ted.

While your calculators are out, type in 58009. Subtract 1. Turn it upside down and what does it say?

PS, IIRC this one works best with a TX Inst. LED calc...

This is really just a place value trick. Nothing all that special.

It works if you multiply by 40, add 1, multiply by 250, add the last 4 digits ONE time, and subtract 250. You don't even need step 8.

It also works if you multiply by 160, add 1, multiply by 250, add the last 4 digits FOUR times, subtract 250, and then divide by 4. ...theoretically there's an infinite number of ways you can do this.

Here's a better one:

You have to do this exactly as I say, or it won't work:

1) Type in the first three digits of your phone number.
2) Multiply that number by 10,000.
3) Now add the last four digits of your phone number.

AMAZING, HUH?!!

(sorry, Ted)

 What's so funny about that is that I actually had to try it!
