Interesting 528i

Anyone heard of any BMW's by 'John Ould'? Found this 528i in a local used car joint, and obviously the owners have no idea about cars, let alone e28's. Anyone seen this badge before? Could simply be an original dealer badge or something boring but thought i'd share the find anyway.

i bet its a old dealership,while rare ive seen werid badges like that. but i mean i could be wrong.

I googled "John Ould" and found the following...
Bib Stillwell purchased John Ould Motors in 1989 and took over the operations of the dealership in the original Armadale premises in High Street.
Bib loved to build and he developed a state-of-the-art facility in Williams Road, South Yarra, boasting the most complete BMW corporate identity standards in Australia. The new facility and the Approved Used BMW center in Malvern Road, South Yarra acted as the springboard for the expansion of the Bib Stillwell BMW brand. From a distant fourth in the Victorian market when Bib took over John Ould, the business gained Victorian market leadership by the time of Bib's death in 1999.
My money's on it being a dealer badge.

I have always wondered why anyone buying a new car would put up with being violated like that. I rarely see it in California, but dealer badges seem to be pretty popular in other parts of the country, such as the Midwest. Now I find they do it in Australia, too?! I could maybe see doing it to a Chevette or a Crown Vic, but an e28? C'mon.

The first thing I did with the one new car I ever bought in my life (an '80 Mazda 626) was peel off that dealer badge as soon as I got it home.
One of the local BMW dealers here is named Motorwerks. Their dealer badge used to have a Motorsport ///M for the first letter so it said, "///Motorwerks." As a result, about half of the older BMWs in Minneapolis have an ///M on the trunk lid.
At some point they changed the badge so it has a plain M for the first letter. I suspect BMW told them to knock it off.

I know the feeling. I'd be telling them to take it off, or asking how much I would be paid for the advertising. BMW of SF out here does put a much more low profile decal on the back, but I'd be at that with a buffer in a hot second if it was on anything I owned.
Much worse than this, back in the 70's I used to see pickup trucks with a bead of weld with the dealers name on the bumper. Mostly in Texas IIRC. How's that for arrogance.
