Uhh... the rear isn't flexing. The whole car is tilting due to the torque reaction between the live axle and driveshaft. This can be seen on most launches of live axle cars at the dragstrip, and is why some cars are set up with asymmetric rear suspension, such as an air bag inside the right rear spring, but not the left rear spring.slave2school wrote:Wow not the rear of the car flexing on the second video...
Thankfully, indeed. I'm not a huge fan of American iron, but the Grand National/GNX is one of those cars that just demands respect. Even if it was genuine, I might have given this one a pass though since it's so damn cool.BMWJustin wrote:Thankfully its not a real Grand National, its a Regal with a GNX body kit.
It looked as if the chassis was flexing to me...uhh. You can tell someone they are mistaken without adding the new wave "duh" to it...Shawn D. wrote:Uhh... the rear isn't flexing. Of course... they won't!wkohler wrote:I want to see those rear wheels/tires on the back of a TD. Think they'll fit Shawn?
California's laws are interesting regarding engine swaps. If the engine is newer in year than the car, you can get it approved. Given the nature of modified diesels, they can probably easily bring it back to stock emissions, etc...if CA even tests that.wkohler wrote:I noticed it's registered in CA. Is it smog exempt?
IF it's a type that was originally available. That Buick was never offered with a diesel.griffith wrote:California's laws are interesting regarding engine swaps. If the engine is newer in year than the car, you can get it approved.
Remember, its just a regular Regal, not a real GN...it was offered with the notorious Olds 350 Diesel...Shawn D. wrote:IF it's a type that was originally available. The Olds 350 diesel block is a serious foundation for a stroker engine when converted to gasoline.Kyle in NO wrote:Remember, its just a regular Regal, not a real GN...it was offered with the notorious Olds 350 Diesel...Shawn D. wrote:IF it's a type that was originally available. I think you're misinterpreting the "Uhh". It's not guttural. It's apologetic, and is shorthand for, "I don't want to insult you, so please understand that while what I have to say may sound insulting, I don't mean it that way- I'm only saying it because I think you need to hear it, and I can't think of a better way to say it, so I apologize for my perceived rudeness." Also, "Umm..."slave2school wrote:[snip] You can tell someone they are mistaken without adding the new wave "duh" to it...
Just to add, I am probably being more than a bit testy on the issue of "internet tonality" but courtesy is one of the few things we have left as a human race. I know if I was face to face with a person I wouldn't start out by saying a guttural "uhh" unless I totally disrespected them.
Dunno. Are Shawn's feet four or five lug?wkohler wrote:I want to see those rear wheels/tires on the back of a TD. Think they'll fit Shawn?

I'm typing this really slow so that you understand that I was countering what Kyle said about the diesel being notorious, as in a POS, but when converted to gasoline has the potential of being a stout ass torque monster of a small block. That is where the relativity to the subject matter came in.superbeeblaze wrote:vance wrote:The Olds 350 diesel block is a serious foundation for a stroker engine when converted to gasoline.Kyle in NO wrote:Remember, its just a regular Regal, not a real GN...it was offered with the notorious Olds 350 Diesel...Shawn D. wrote:IF it's a type that was originally available. Actually they are a good building block for a good boat anchor, but this nor that relates to anything.
There should have been a comma after "fit." Stupid Macbook Pro keyboard. I'm having a very hard time with it for some reason. It is backlit, though.RonW wrote:Dunno. Are Shawn's feet four or five lug?wkohler wrote:I want to see those rear wheels/tires on the back of a TD. Think they'll fit Shawn?
