Has anyone done, or have links to a v8 conversion where the person used a late 80's fox body 5.0 or a L98 from a camaro? plus the tranny?

:thanks:

I don't remember but there is a website that has an E36 with an LS1/ 6speed swap and I think a member here has swapped an BMW V8 in an E28.
When my motor dies I'm thinking of doing it...purist schmurist...

Ya, I am thinking about doind it next year. Parts to rebuild a E28 motor arn't exactly off the self items. But if you put in a SBC or 5.0 you can have many config options.

please don't put a mustang engine in your E28 without completing the conversion and turning it into a pickup truck with leaf springs.

i love the new mustang body style, but it still drives like a damn truck, including the motor.

Realistically, you're best off getting a TCD kit for a junkyard M30 engine.. the car will retain its character, it all bolts right in, etc.

There was a guy on First 5's that did it to an E12 with a Chevy engine, but it got wrecked not too long afterwards by his son. I didn't pay too much attention to it since it's not my cup of tea, as the saying goes. I don't know if he's still active there but you might try a site specific search.

That's Peter Mooney. He's putting the engine and trans in an e21 now.

If I was to put a tirbo on my car I would rebuild the whole motor. It is just acking for trouble to but a turbo on a car with almost 200K miles and no engine rebuild. and how many local supplliers have E28 engine parts?

TCD would be the person to ask this question to. From talking to him, I gather, a well maintained 200k+ M30 is able to handle boost. As for sourcing parts locally, since the advent of the internet, everything is local.

I've rebuilt a couple engines... just called Steve Haygood... "Steve, rebuilding an M30, send parts". A few days later parts arrive... seals, gaskets, bearings, rings, etc. It's all easily sourced.

It's Todd's 200K+ car that ran the quarter at 12.09 at 119mph. The engine is stock except the HG. Healthy is healthy regardless of the miles.
