Im not so proud I can't admit it, I was wrong. And this so weid, I had this conversation with SteveD face to face on this, maybe I was baffled by bullshit, I'm not sure, but the proof was definatley in the pudding.

But, I discovered yet another function of the DME, it's intelligence never stops astounding me. If I set the SAFC-II to a crazy AFM out, the ECU is smart enough to know theres something amiss and it goes into a fail safe mode so the car wont completely flood out from fuel and stall. It knows the range the AFM input should be for a given RPM and throttle input, and if it's outside this range, it will start what feels like a rev limit and pulses fuel on and off at the point the AFM goes whack, so it wont flood out ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0
This is very nice, I was not aware it would do this. Again, there is some very nice intelligence built into the software on these DMEs, way more than I would have thought, and a very large adaptive range on injs.

Russ' Dinan turbo might be archaic, but it has something that NO newer turbo setup I'm aware of has.

As for archaic, Mmmm...this system isn't any worse than the kit that TCD sells. The better points on TCDs stuff is just a newer turbo with updated inner wheels. But on the FMU front, the Turbotrinics box does the same electricaly, so there equivalent there. And, as far as I can tell, Todd still hasn't beat my dyno #'s ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0, and I'm using crappy CA gas.

I know Todd, but every time you go to make one of those 20psi runs, the car seems to not work or is broke Actually, what HP does you 1/4m run indiacte??

Russ, on the flip side of the coin, DME also protects against lean condition (AFM signal out of logical range) and will flip you into load-limited protection mode for 4-6 minutes, or until the situation is corrected.
