Stolen E28 M5 RECOVERED

Post by Preyupy »

Car was stolen from a parking garage last night in Seattle VIN 2875215.  It is Black with tan interior, 3 Momo star wheels and one factory M5 wheel (the other Momo was damaged and was being repaired).

If you have any information, please call Seattle Police 206-625-5011 case Number 25-115046

May 1, 2025, update:  Car has been found some damage but repairable.  Thanks to a number of local friends that were on the lookout it was found parked on the side of the road about 8pm last night.

It turns out that their house was broken into and the thieves grabbed spare keys then came back later and were able to unlock, start, and drive the car away.

EVERYONE Keep your spare keys in a safe place, not laying on the top of kitchen counter etc!!!

That update is about as good as it can get! I hope the rest of the burglary wasn't much worse.

A friend's boyfriend once called me "paranoid" because I said his practice of leaving keys in a tray next to a glass door was an invitation to a stolen car.

I keep the keys I'm not using in my gun safe. No, I obviously don't think it's impossible for any of the cars to be stolen that way, but it reduces the likelihood.

it's definitely an invitation. you might as well smile and wave at the thief!! of course, not having easily accessible keys won't stop a determined individual, but i've never understood making it easy for them either.

I replied to one of the FB posts on it that my 308 got stolen (in Seattle) a number of years ago. Thankfully it turned up a few days later left in a neighborhood. They had just taken it joy riding.

I'm glad you got it back.  I have a few spare pieces. Let me know what you need.

Seems like the built-in security code feature would deter most people. I'll be setting it when parking in Seattle going forward.

I was thinking a hidden kill switch for the main relay.  If they get in the car will crank but won’t start ( this is actually what the “code” lock does) you don’t have to remember the code and it won’t flash at them telling them what is going on either.
