Door Gromets and a Random Spring

Has anyone replaced the little gromets in the door handle rod assemble and the lock button rod ?   I ordered a bunch from FCP Euro and they don't seem to fit and stay in place that well.  I compared the FCP items to an old one that is still in the interior door release handle, you know, what the horizontal rod attaches to,  and that one is thicker and made of a clear rubber.  The FCP stuff look like plastic caps.

Also, I found a broken spring in the bottom of the door, what's this to ??

Thanks, here's some pics.

Ahh, I figured out the gromet issue, I was using the wrong part number.  The gromet in the pic is for the external door molding nut.   Still don't know where the spring goes.  Let me know.

Sweeet !   Thanks for posting the pic for me.  Do you know if it's possible to fit a new spring without taking the latch assembly out

Also, I searched that part number and nothing came up.  This is the number I see, is it correct ?  Both 51-21-1-873-385 and 51-21-1-878-385 don't work in the ETK

Thx

You should be able to get the spring in place no problem. If not, removing the lock is not difficult, and you could use the opportunity to scrape the waxy old grease off and lube it properly.

I replaced the grommets to all the linkage bars recently when greasing the window regulators. I had a black rubber grommet set from Amazon for a past project. It has a small size that fit the rods perfectly, though it took some curse words to make them fit into place. Did it without removing anything from the doors. I think the whole set of grommets in multiple sizes cost like $8 or so. it definitely got rid of the interior door handle play and central locking is now a fair bit quieter.
