I bought a 87 528e 2 months ago, Drained the fuel tank, installed a new fuel pump and intake boot. Car ran perfect after wards. The clutch started slipping so I installed and Single Mass Flywheel Kit, cracked the exhaust right before the converter. So it ran very loud and very poorly after I finished install. Would not idle and ran very rough under acceleration. So i had the exhaust fixed but the car still has the same issue, won’t idle, runs very poorly, and sometimes is hard to get running. I’m just trying to see if I done something wrong with the Flywheel. Any advice is appreciated.

My first thought is a vacuum leak. Yes I know you did the clutch not the engine or head, but old vacuum hoses can be brittle and the engine does get moved some when you R and R the tranny.

Now since it's a M20 engine and I don't know them that well, was there a locating dowel and did you get it in the right place? I wouldn't think it would run at all if it was off by a bolt, but if it did it would run very, very poorly.
