Just wanting to clarify.. if the wiper motor is "VERY" slow in parking but works ok in other respects.. this an indication of the internal connections within the motor.. a matter of opening and cleaning or consider replace it?

If I open and clean is there a way of testing on the bench before reinstall.

Also other than lubricating the wiper mechanism any other items to fix/replace/check while having the motor out and access?

Be safe..

Start with the motor parked, unbolt the linkage
this will remove wiper friction resistance from motor.
Operate the motor and watch the speed of the shaft in all phases of operation.
Stop motor in park position. Remove motor and take off gear cover and clean out all old crusted lubricant.
Clean contacts in the gear casing. Lubricate with new stuff, plug in motor and operate, don't have to install just rest in cowl, if you feel stronger
torque or faster shaft rpm and notice how fast it parks, if it's better your golden. If non of these are improved I would
check motor draw and go from there.

The issue is in the motor assy. The fingers they use on the slip rings aren't strong enough to make contact. I tried the clean and regrease trick on mine, but used wheel bearing grease. It was better for a while, but eventually reverted to past behavior, somewhat different than yours, but I think the same problem. In retrospect, I would use lithium grease, the white stuff. It seems to be a lighter, thinner grease and less likely to be an insulator between the contacts. You do need to remove and partly disassemble the motor, but it's not difficult.
