There was a pretty bad tornado in Sioux Falls last night, hope you came through it okay.

Yup, all is well for us; thanks for asking. Nothing is terribly far from anything else in Sioux Falls, but the hardest-hit area is about a mile south of us. In our neighborhood we had a few branches down, and things got progressively worse as you got closer to where the closest one touched down. The main Advance Auto store (on 41st Street) in town was right in the path of one of the tornadoes, and in the photos I've seen it looks like a bomb went off inside. A number of other businesses along that street took heavy damage, and will likely be out of commission for a while. There's a decent collection of photos here on one of the local news stations' website. Looks a lot like any other disaster photos, but strange for me because I recognize so many of the places.

One of my sisters and her hubby live about halfway between our house and 41st Street; I spent a good portion of the day helping the BIL clean up their yard and their neighbors' yards, then tried to drive to my son's house... Not an easy task. Lots of streets blocked by downed trees and crews trying to get power restored. Saw lots of property damage while out & about though; houses with sections of roof missing, one apartment building that was missing its entire roof, large tree branches on houses & cars, etc... Saw some big chunks of commercial roofing material -- likely from one of the buildings on 41st -- that were deposited in some residential yards four blocks away. Yikes.

I don't have enough garage space at home, so the M535i is stored in a rental just south of town; I was a bit concerned because the storage unit happens to be in the path that the storm took on its way to SF, so I drove down to have a look. No damage to the building, and The Princess was dry and undamaged.

Between the weather and the crime, I don't know how you live in such a place! Be careful!!! (do we know how to nuke tornadoes yet?)
