Planning on buying a autosolution shifter kit based on stuff I've been reading in the archives. Is it still a Yay? Any nays? Preety much everything I read talks about quality etc. nothing in recent years to show otherwise?

Well if they sell the same crap I have in my car you are good to go. Tightens everything up and...makes the shifting just as stiff as the brakes and steering, bringing everything in the driving experience the same kind of effort needed.

I don't think I've ever heard of that kit. I wish I would have known about it before I went the route I did. I was willing to spend money on a kit but not what UUC wanted for theirs. So I went with an eBay short shifter for an E30. Lol But I had to find a special one because I have the sheet metal shift console. That sheet metal console adds another layer of complexity when you're searching for eBay short shifters. It's due to the way the ball cup bushings work. Anyway, I drilled the plastic/nylon bushings out and put brass lubricated bushings in. It actually came out decent. Probably not as good as the kit you're looking at, but good for $50. Lol If you go with that kit I'm curious to see how it works out.

UUC is crazy I think its like 375.00 I'm sure it's great but I keep reading good stuff about autosolution.

Man that would pain me to spend that kind of money for a shifter. I'm sure its bad ass though.

What took me over the top was Ronald the guy from autosolutions talking about a guy who knew his business! He gave me so much great info i really appreciated his level of knowledge.

I've personally driven Vlad enough to test (mountain roads from Seattle,WA to Portland, OR) and agree with Charlie. Having said that, Autosolutions is very near that of the BMW Z3 1.9 stock shifter which Charlie has in Maytag (which I also drove for the return trip from Portland to Seattle). The driving experience was very similar. I also have the Z3 shifter in my M535i (although with a bit of modified mounting parts because evidently my car is "special").

So, if you want an excellent short shift kit out of the box, go with Autosolutions SSK.
If you want save a little money and don't mind some possible DIY, order the Z3 1.9 shifter parts.

Always have liked the Autosolutions.net products. Ronald really knows these cars. I have 2 from him for my 2002's, 2 for the e28's, 1 for an e24 and a specially made one for a 5 speed in a Neue Klasse sedan (not yet uninstalled, but looks promising) with plans to buy more.

If you want something to be wrong with it, buy a UUC product.

I have a uuc shifter. It sits in a box in my garage.

Honestly, a stock shifter with rebuilt linkage is as nice as anything I've used.

Did you see my comment about firming up the shifting?
