My car is perfect ....but this other car we have isnt.

The problem is:

At first the pedal always went to the floor and would always sit down a bit leaving the brake lights on.

I had a check around the Accumulator wheels off etc..hoses semm fine ....but the accumulator had Fluid on the bottom of it.

So as we have a parts car with good brakes..we swapped the Accumulator/ regulator..no longer leaking but the brakes the same.

So we assumed it was the Master cylinder....so we swapped it....it feels better....we have bleed it about 3 times in the right order for a diagonal braking system.

when we first step on the pedal after sitting is firm....but a few pumps it hits the floor....i believe we have bleed it enough..maybe some more??

but the next thing i think it might be..i have yet to have this problem with E28....is that the Brake booster is stuffed?? Ive had leak before and fixed it but it still worked......but not one that does not work properly at all..... but the thing is this is not leaking?? Could it be stuffed still?

SHould i be looking else where?

Any ideas would be helpful....or i can clarify more as to what i have exactly done so far.

Since nobody else has taken a crack yet...

It sound like to me that you have a cracked line or such. Make sure you check the rear lines as well. At the trailing arms is rubber hoses that could be bad.

Have you inspected the lines from front to rear?
Does the car have ABS?
Hows the pedal box?
Are the Calipers leaking?

A bad booster is rather easy to check: The pedal would be really stiff. Or when you hit the brakes, it sound like a large air leak.

I would think that you have a faulty master cylinder. How old was the used one? Last I checked a rebuilt one was about 40 bucks or so.

No ABS...the pedal box appears fine.....there is no visable fluid loss from any of the calipers....have not really checked the Lines from the body to subframe yet.

I dont think it is a bad booster myself....it makes the same noise my one does in my car...and is not leaking.

I think it just needs more bleeding..we have rigged up a vacum pump with a ezi bleeder and see if we can suck the air out.

The master we put in was a good one from what i know testing it it before removing..
Ill keep you posted.

Okay, sound like a plan. You just may have a little bit of trapped air in the Master Cylinder.

the booster doens't have anything to do with a pedal that goers to the floor. That will be either air in the system, a bad m/c or a leak in the DOT4 system

OK...we rigged up a Vacum pump with a Ezi bleed kit..i wish my camera was working so as i could show you the setup...Very cool.

And it works a treat....Sucked out heaps of old fluid, water and air.

Pedal went hard as a rock..perfect.

But when you start the engine....a coupld of pumps and gets close to the floor...just dosnt have the resitacne my other 2 E28s have...(the car where working on is my brothers)

So...im not sure what to do now. I think i might remove the Master cylinder agin...im quite sure it had fluid in it before we instaled it...and im guessing if it didnt..it woulkd not have pumped fluid when bleeding.

Ill get some pics of the BRake bleeder we made up when my camera is working....just marvelous..im going to do my car with it as well.
