Well, I was in the midst of selling my car today when I discovered that the cd player had stopped working. When I stopped driving the car a week ago it was working fine. It's an alpine unit. It just doesn't seem to be getting any power, it won't light up or anything.

I'm storing it for him till Saturday when he (the buyer) comes and picks it up, and I'd really like to get that fixed for him, since I know it works. Where should I start?

Update: I realized that the power locks, which have always worked, also have stopped working. Are these connected?

Have you checked the inline fuses for the CD player. I almost reverse engineered my system to figure that one out.

Where do you find those?

I was assuming you were talking about a CD changer- follow the wires, mine were about a foot and a half up (little plastic holders) in the trunk. If you're talking indash, maybe it's just a blown or loose fuse in the fuse box. Check them out first and make sure they are clean and seated.

Yea, I checked the fuse box. There was so many mismatched fuses... I got them all sorted out and the power locks/cd player started working again. Now I'm gonna check that on my e30 too...
