I haven't been on the board much later. Too much bs going on here, working too much, & just plain ole too busy to even think about putting my car back together. At any rate, the thought of making a show or 2 next year brings tad bit of hope to an other wise dismal car enthusiast. There are 2 shows I really wanted to make last year but things just didn't work out, let alone my POS car is going thru changes.

Anyhow, what car shows are you looking forward to next year?

Not really a show per se, but my sons really really want to go to the King of the Hammers race(s) in Johnson Valley, Ca in February.

We never go anywhere for family trips so I'm going to see if SWMBO will let us sneak away for 2-3 days.

I'll have to narrow the list somewhat due to overlapping meets, but I'm aiming to make most of these:

St. Paddy's Day in SD
Clean Car Contest in SD
5er West, in Portland?
Wolf Creek in Colorado
Legends of the Autobahn in Monterey
SoCal Vintage in Van Nuys

I'd love to hit up Tedfest and The Vintage too, but those would more than likely be the only meet for that year, got to stay within the yearly mileage allotment. It would be so worth it though!

Really wanted to make Vintage this year. Planning to for sure in 2013.

I always do the 24hrs of Daytona (which can be considered a car show) and I've got the same top floor suite for The Vintage again this year at the HeeHawthorne. Security will be hired only days before so as not to be comprimised and breached by RTT ninjas.

It's fast becoming The Ultimate Off Road race in the Country, if not worldwide.

For years, all the trails in that area were "hammers" ie: jack, sledge, etc. There's different names now, but it's still referred to as "The Hammers".

It takes us mere mortals a good part of the day to do (1) of the trails in a decent rockcrawler (35-37" tires, locked front/rear, dual cases, very little sheetmetal), these guys do 6+ trails and 90 miles of desert racing in about 6 hours!

What is usually a dry lake bed becomes Hammertown, with streets, vendors, portapotties, and last year- 40,000 (!) people for 10 days.

I want to take my kidlet to the offroad races in Parker, AZ. March-ish.
V@V is a definite maybe. I'm still waiting to hear about RTT13 plans. Lotsa driving. We'll see how car and budget are in April.

If I was in Yuma, I'd be hooking up with the Sandy Eggans .

Barber Motosport park for the Indy Cars ,GrandAM and the Porsche 250 in April and the the Vintage Motorcycles in the fall.

Looking like Tedfest, Indy 500, Brickyard (especially the Grand Am race), and 5erfest if it's happening.

I'm bummed that the Vintage is not happening for me (really bummed about RTT), and I'll probably miss the PVGP. I'd like to use my vacation time to do something other than additional days for weekend car shows, though. Possibly the Targa Newfoundland, who knows.

head west for KOH early Feb. you will not be disappointed!!

The Vintage again, this time with an actual vintage BMW if things go as hoped. Perhaps another run at TexFest, with the 5er.

Thinking about doing the 2013 BMW National Capitol Chapter concours show, which will be the 30th annual show and my 528e celebrates its 30th birthday... a good combination. However, I haven't been back since the 2007 show, since I have concerns about how an 'original' car such as mine is perceived by the audience, versus one that looks good because most of it has been rebuilt. Not enough appreciation and understanding for the level of work invested to keep it in exceptional original condition, versus dumping dollars into it to get it back in shape, in my experience. We'll see.

Your car, and website do more for these cars than any high dollar resto ever could. I say take it, show it and screw 'em if they can't see it and you for the ambassador you both are.

Corey, the offroad event you mentioned earlier, I was pokin' fun at the use of a nickname of a certain male appendage, in both the name of the event and where it was being held, not at the event itself. I love going 2mph too. I hope you didn't take it the wrong way?

I could not agree more .
As I said once before, I stumbled on Rods site shortly after purchasing my '88 528e almost 9 years ago now.
I seriously doubt I would have learned to love and appreciate it, (never mind, still own & drive it) as much as I do, without him and his site.

I hope to make 5er West, but it's iffy. We'll see. Unless 5er Fest is in Sac or something.

I'd like to get to Monterey for Legends but with O'Fest being there at the same time, it's going to get crowded. That and I don't know if I'm going to get that much time away from work. But we'll see.

V@V 2013 for sure. Still can't do RTT because I can't take that kind of time from work, especially with testing and stuff. TedFest hopefully, I need to get my ass in gear and get our passports done.

RTT might actually happen before the vintage this year. We are working on it.

I haven't seen many new cars at Vintage for the past few years. Hanging out there I always get a BTDT feeling. Same reason I didn't go to Limerock the past 2 years. BTDT.

If you haven't been to Vintage, I suggest you go. Lots of cool stuff to see.

That's kind of why we created RTT. Every year we make a new route and throw some variety in the mix. Another way we put it is more gas time less grass time. At the end of the day its then all about the people, the party and sharing everyone's unique experience from the day.

I have been 4 times now (maybe 5). Its a good show. I just get bored seeing the same stuff year after year.
