i noticed rear suspension bushing were torn up and looked sloppy. 88 535is. i am replacing the diff mount, drive shaft, tranny mount, gilbo, z4 shifter, all shifter bushings. Now the bushing i saw were the ones in front of the rear tires and had two bolts coming down through them. i know shitty description. but my question is. What bushings can i change to tighten her up? If its not to expensive ill put in all new bushing in the rear. Can somebody list these for me. i checked the roadfly archive and one page on this sight but its so slow and i dfound nothing. thx for any help

the ones i noticed are called pitman arm, and im gonna buy those donuts dasmafia was talkin about. there 15 bucks

Now should i do sub frame bushings and trailing arm bushing. i heard trailing arm is a bitch to do and its prob fine anyway.

do the dogbones and the subrframe re-inforcers first, they can be done without special tools or a ton of time (I think I paid $25 in labor to have the dogbones done.

do the rest of what you have planned, I'd skip the trailing arm bushings and the subframe mounts for now... see how things are before you tackle that, its just a LOT of time and work.

everything else except the trans mount, I think can be done in an afternoon.

R+Red dog bones last w/e 10 minutes each. It would have been faster if I was familiar with BIL's air gun. Its a drive way job. No huge improvement in handling has resulted. Subframe bushings are a PITA, allow plenty of time. Swing arms are a real PITA. I spent about 4hrs R+Ring one. Brakelines have to be discoed. Hearsay is that pressing in a new bushing often bends the arm. If the car feels like the rear wheels are steering, then its prolly the subframe bushings. Toward the end , it made me wish I had some dramimine. Replacement of sub f bs returned the grin factor to the Borman6

i havn't driven my baby since october so i can leave her in my driveway on some stands while i rip her apart. I dont rember noticing the rear wheels steering so should i just stay away from doing the sway arm bushings?

swing-arm bushings require a press.... so unless you have one...

you can subframe mounts... but have fun.

replacing my dogbones made a BIG difference in trasnitional response and stability under braking... about equal to the delrin inserts.

and the dogbones, while not cheap, are EASY...

do what you think is best.

im keeping the car for a long time so i was thinking do everything and then it will be good for hopefully a long time. my neighbor has a press and i can use that whenever i want or if it was that much of a pain i was thinking of bringing the arms into a shop and having them press out and in. Im doing everything for sure except the trailing arms.
