Did you ever stop to think (doubtful) about what you might be missing? What is the single most important factor in any transaction? Care to venture a guess? Or should I say would you like to take a stab in the dark?

I really do feel like I am onto something here!toddness wrote:This thread has become almost as much fun, not really, as the final bidding. But fun nonetheless.
I'll add...
Missionary is hard with bad shoulders.
George, you are out of your mind.
If George were younger and lived in Wyoming his name would be Caleb and he'd drive an E21.toddness wrote:This thread has become almost as much fun, not really, as the final bidding. But fun nonetheless.
This ought to be interesting.gray635 wrote:I'm not much for feeding trolls, but did want to ask Mr. Hanson a question.
I happen to know the reserve price for Clint's car and also know what I could have purchased it for about 1 month before he put it on BAT, since I seriously considered buying it but decided to pass. Both prices were substantially less than the $50K that the car sold for on BAT - a fact that should come as no surprise to those of us who follow these cars with some interest.
In the absence of any comparable sales upon which to formulate a fair asking price on a private party negotiated sale, I'm curious what price George would have asked for the car, had it been his and he decided to market it solely on mye28.com, and the basis for that determination. And no 20/20 hindsight.![]()

Mike

But this did seem to be a fair question, since George was trying to figure out whether advertising the car for sale here on the board at a stated price or offering the car to a much wider audience of car enthusiasts in an auction environment on BAT would have resulted in the greater ROI for Clint. Personally, I think the answer is pretty obvious. And that is even without that 20/20 hindsight thing.

I don't think so. Spoke with him a couple times today, he currently lives in the UK but just bought a home overlooking the ocean in SoCal. He's moving part of his collection here, which includes a Ferrari 275 4-cam, Ferrari 599 GTO, and a 80's era Countach. His comments about this e28 were, impressive condition and loved the color combo - loves 80's era german engineering.Adam W in MN wrote:Alright, it's the morning after and the bidding frenzy and excitement is ebbing; I have to wonder if the new owner is having any regret.

It's more than a fair question, Mike. But you will not get an answer to it from Mr. Hanson. It was mentioned in one of his posts that only a terrible salesman would state a price here, rather than somehow magically negotiate a higher sale price than on BAT. Your question will only be responded to with more trolling.
Still batting 0.000...russellrh72 wrote:George! You're not saying anything man! Just typing and posting and putting up links of the auction we all know about. You didn't answer Mike's question...as I predicted. But then implied that I was wrong again. You're killing me George. I so badly want you to say something coherent with your next post. As asked by Mike earlier, what price tag would you have put on the car if you posted it for sale here??? Just type a number for us.

The answer is right up above....simply requires a smidgen of interpolation on your part.wkohler wrote:You're the one batting 0.000, George.
