Owen at BM Auto Engineering Malaga. He's who the car is being finished by, comes highly recommended by lots of beemer owners in Perth, especially E9-E28/E30

That is not how they fix things in the collection.

I got some vdo gauges (oil pressure, oil temp and voltmeter) flush mounted into the newly leather wrapped centre console, only to find out today the gauges foul on the ac unit (must have seen pics from non-ac cars). Will have to drop one of the gauges (volt meter) and mount the other two where the ash tray goes. This also means getting the console covered in leather again :-(

i never thought this car would be completed, much less this soon. looks great!

Drove it home this arvo :-) runs beautifully, plenty of power! Interior is a disgrace but we'll get to that soon enough.

Curious to know what pinstriping combo are you going with and are you going to black out the rear blinker surrounds?
I like how you've whited out the mirror bodies, thinking of doing that also.

Long journey indeed. Not considering pinstriping at this stage, but shadowlining is definitely part of the plan (window trims and gutter rails as well as lights, also have a set of shadowline door impact strips).

Sorry about the shitty photos, but here's the inside. Spent many hours tonight getting it finished so I can keep driving it. M-tech I wheel is being finished off, so should have it on later this week. The moulded carpet I got from the states is WAY too big, so will get my trimmer to make me a new set. That'll have to wait til after the wedding though.

Nice to see it running. Bet it goes well.

Always had a soft spot for houndstooth and what with the rest of the interior being black (and the whole car being black/white) I thought it would break it up nicely. Have the rear spoiler and the door sills, they'll make it on soon. Took delivery of some 3M double sided tape so will be finishing off the bodykit soon

After 3 years of searching to no avail, I got a 280km/h speedo face made up - he also repaired the tacho, refreshed the tacho face, painted the needles, fixed the odo gears and converted to km.

Slowly and steadily putting the interior together. Gear stick emblem arrived today!

Looks great mate! Good to see more Aussie 28's getting around

Time for a long overdue update. Car is pretty much finished except for the boot trim, headliner, shadowlining and stereo, but I've been too busy driving it.

Also, after problems with the centre section of my exhaust (cracking all the time, improperly made) I got a new one made up and got a video of it running. Note it is running rich because it is cold and also I need to buy a new set of injectors.

Another update:

Was driving down the highway at 100km/h (60mph) and the car in front decided to let go of its plastic sump guard, straight into my bonnet/windscreen. Luckily most of it was just marks that buffed out, but had to get a slight dent popped out.

You have my respect seeing how long the road has been, how high the mountain, and glad you're able to enjoy it now
