Damn, I really like your car sir.

Do you have any idea what it weighs? With the Euro bumpers, manual windows, cloth seats, no AC and whatnot it has to be a good deal less than a US 535i.

Let me take a guess. Right around 3000 pounds?

Right around 2700 pounds. Good lord, that is light.

What did you do to make it this light? I recall someone saying the M535i was around 3100 stock. Correct me if I'm wrong.

US M5 weighed around 3400 stock, with 256 HP.
weight to power ratio: 13.28:1

Your M535i, 2700 with 218 HP.
weight to power ratio: 12.39:1

Theoretically, you'd beat a US M5, not accounting for torque, tires, gearbox, diff, etc. Have you ever raced one to find out?

Damn, I'm liking this more by the minute.

Sorry Henry I stand corrected. Just came back from the weigh station and after I subtract my weigth plus the box in the trunk the M535i actually weighs 3171 lbs. The actual HP at the wheels is 172hp and 179 fp of torque.

My offer is 6K, bear in mind that your's car aint an M5, unless you have an M engine in there for what you asking, also there are lots of similar car and M5s advertised for way less then your asking price.
What is special about your car that you are asking such a high price?
High mileage, no air, nothing electric, pictures don’t even show interior or the problem areas that you mentioned.

I think it’s the other way around; the more you bring up this post, the fewer offers you would get. That is fine with me, if you are not serious.

Not to hijack Ted's thread, but more specifically, the car is a M535i. And to quote the BMW M Registry FAQ:

What makes the E28 M535i unique?

The E28 M535i is closely based on the mechanically identical E28 535i and therefore does not feature any unique BMW Motorsport-designed drivetrain components.

What kind of engine powers the E28 M535i?

Like its E12 M535i predecessor, the E28 M535i is not powered by a special M-developed engine but by a standard BMW powerplant. In this case, it is the exact same M30 inline-six found in the E28 535i and later versions of the E23 735i and E24 635CSi,

You can read more about the M535i here:

The M535i will be in Aberdeen MD this weekend if any one want s to come see it in person. I just changed a tie rod end and two upper control arms. Replaced the two front tires with Yokohama's and aligned the front end. No shimmy now! :alright: It still needs two rear tires and one subframe bushing which I might do if a good offer comes in.Cheers. Ted in T.O.

Too bad the timing is off -- have family in town this weekend but otherwise I would make the drive north just to see this car. I'd have to cut through all the E46s and E90s likely but it would be worth it. Good luck with the sale.

Very nice car, good luck with the sale.

I am restoring our 1987 e28 it is a 535is needs some body work otherwise the car is in great shape. Just added some photos today to our photo album (www below) showing the areas where the rust has attacked over the past 7 years :( All in all with new front fenders repair will run around $3K we love the car and will never sell it :)

Rebecca's boyfriend just dropped by and showed me November's issue of Eurotuner.Of the over 1000 BMW's that were in attendance 26 pictures were entered and the M535i was one of them. I guess Greg Emmerson inserted the M535i into the article because he has never seen one. They are rare here in NA that's for sure.Cars is in storage and still looking for a good home. ;)
