Perhaps Fema (took 36-48 hours to set-up PODS) and Centerpoint (3-4 weeks to get power fully restored) should take notes.

I live in Montrose and we may not get power for a while. Other than an isolated power truck assessing the damage, no clean-up crews have begun attacking the 60ft tree that took out two poles on my street. We are only about 1km from a substation but might be in one of those zones which requires too much effort to get back online immediately.

Thank god for the fall weather.

Ironically, my 535i got more damage (insulation falling on the hood and roof) while parked in a 5 floor concrete garage downtown than my sister in laws Camry which sat out in her neighborhood.
You need to hook up with us local E28's, there's a good chance some of us may get together next weekend.
Glad your ok.

Hi Rich,
Actully, we're trying to turn it into a get-together this coming Saturday.
I'm dying Nanas last seat and headrests and Sherman was talking about stopping by too, plus we have some new local guys we haven't met.
I need to change my cap, rotor & plugs, & the 3.74 diff off of my 533i which has already been removed and swap it into the 535i, and my 540i is getting front & rear Racing Dynamics sway bars and I need to install a chip I just bought for it.
I'm sure I will only get a fraction of this done, but it's a good time to have a beer & tell lies.
We haven't settled on a time but I was thinking 11-12 depending on everyone else?
Hope you can swing by & to any of the local guys, feel free to message me, you are all welcomed to come.
On another note, Robin was talking about hosting a wrenchfest at the begining of Oct.

Lost power Friday evening around midnight.
Since my neighborhood of 55 houses is on a community well, we lost water at the same time.

Water was finally restored Tuesday evening around 6 PM.

Just got our cable internet back about 10 minutes ago.

Electricity will be a different story. There are nearly a half dozen power poles either snapped in half or wires pulled from the poles by fallen trees.

We've got an 8500 kw generator so as long as we can afford to buy gas we'll be cool, literally, with the cold front sent our way in such a timely manner.

No damage at my house. Many little finger size branches everywhere, but no physical damage to inhabitants or property. "Praise God".

We got power back on sometime between 10:15 and 04:00 last night. Charter cable internet access is back up as I'm posting this from home.
I spent a couple of quality hours with my Milwaukee Sawzall this afternoon working on the tree that was down and blocking a good part of the driveway. Another half an hour or forty five minutes and I'll be into trunk too thick for my longest blades so I'll probably have to get my 30 year old Stihl chain saw running again. The problem with that is it uses a discontinued chain size and I need to update the drive sprocket and bar to make it practical. Maybe the local dealer will offer me a decent trade in value on it and they can display it as an antique. ;)

Mark,
I was wondering about your house because you have even more trees than I do. I'm glad you had no damage to the house and you guys are well.

236 hours w/o electricity, and counting... :dunno:
My wife's comment, "at least we'd have a low electric bill this month". :D
Then I reminded her of the 8 - 10 gallons of gas we burn a day in the generator at $3.50 a gallon, $1,000 +/- a month. :bawl: "Ouch!" she said.

Water available about half the day :bawl:, at least I'm not having to draw it from a well and carry it uphill in a bucket :D.

Still no power on my street in Montrose. How are we suppossed to be young and hip (or young, urban, and professional) without power? BTW, no generator either.

If you need anything, I have all kinds of camping gear, gas stoves etc. & an electric generator that will work for about 15 hrs.

Going for the record...

312 hours, if my math is correct, and counting.

Centerpoint's objective date to have power returned in my area is Sunday the 28th.

Thank God for $3.23 a gallon gas for the generator.

The power to my house was out for two weeks as well...good thing I work away from home! I did spend a week in the mess though. Still, better outcome than the last hurricane we were involved in...
