Opened my box on Christmas Eve! And oh my what great treasures it revealed Box came from CT, no name.

That was from me! I realized after I dropped it off that forgot the note with my name.

USPS comes through at last!
Just received my PBE from Roy W. and I'll need to update my "Driveway car count" by the 2 that arrived in the box. Terrific sticker collection that will certainly make my tool chest faster! Based on the number of car care items, I suspect that Roy may have heard reports of my car wash habits. A fresh Roundel, a v-belt, and a signed, first edition of the literary classic "Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic" round out the best Christmas present of the year!


I had a great time coordinating the PBE this year and look forward to next year (with maybe a little earlier start.)

Received my box which came all the way from the west coast -- a big thank you to Gerardo in LA! This package of fine items included:

- Brand new Meyle flex disc (checked the part number and this actually will fit my wife's ZHP!)
- Schmiedmann lanyard (will be put to immediate use)
- Beer cozy (ditto)
- A very fine SoCal Vintage mug (this is already at my desk at work)
- Outstanding and very colorful sun hat (which the three-year-old promptly commandeered)
- Really cool full-spread magazine color ad for the e28 535is (shared this with my wife who is the true enthusiast in the family, maybe we'll frame it...)
- Two very interesting volumes -- The BMW Story (my Dad would have loved this) and the CCA's BMW Enthusiast's Companion circa 1995 -- these are fun reads and can also be mined for technical information (my e38 is a '95)
- Handheld cellphone cover game (which the three-year-old also immediately commandeered)

Oh yeah... Forgot about the seat belt clips that were in there! Also forgot to mention the bootleg tape of Journey's Greatest Hits on a Maxell UR cassette. I think I might have a working cassette player around here... Somewhere.

-A Wyoming License plate to add to my collection of state plates, looks to be vintage
-The tiniest folding knife that I have ever seen! (or is it a letter opener?)
-A big ol' lock that I will probably attach to my toolbox at work
-BMW keychain that easily detaches unlike the ring type
-E39 keychain (definitely using this for my e39 fob)

A little explanation on a few of the items:

One Quadrupel Ale from Boulevard Brewing Company

I thought that was a fun pun, one bottle from a six-pack of Sixth Glass; a sixth of the pack... Ok, yeah, a bit of a stretch. Hope you enjoy the beer more than the pun; it's one of my favorites!

Various latex and non latex gloves...
An empty syringe

My wife is a surgery nurse; those two items and the blue tray were surplus unused items after a surgery. Stuff like that usually gets tossed, but she can't stand to see it go to waste, so too much of that stuff comes home with her. The gloves work well for any kind of wrenching you do, and the syringes (no needle), although they're small, come in handy for a lot of things.

A rock

That is a little bit of Italian marble in it's natural form that we picked up from the beach in Moneglia, Italy, a little town at the northern end of the Cinque Terre. We visited that area a few times while we were living in Germany; lots of great memories!

A 114th tactical fighter group patch (awesome)

That's from my time in the SD Air National Guard, back in the '80's. The base shares runways with the municipal airport here (FSD); in my day they flew A7-Ds, but now they've graduated to F16s.

And some kind of brake pad/caliper shaped (very powerful) magnets...?

Just a pair of magnets salvaged from a hard drive. They can come in handy for lots of things too.

I was finally able to collect all of my mail from over the Holidays, so I got a second mini X-Mas!

This package was very special to me because it contained a number of Texas goodies. Made me feel homesick!



These two issues of the Roundel will be framed at some point.



I love these. I plan on refinishing them and installing them on the SETA once I get the 5-speed in.

I think that's a wrap on this year's Priority Box Exchange.
I'm already looking forward to next year. It's not like I haven't accumulated enough stuff over the years to fill boxes for damn near forever!
I'll try to remember to kick it off in early November (too soon?).
