Ben, glad to see things progressing :) Can't wait to put one in. Also, for reference, Long Beach BMW charged me $145 for this part about a year ago.

Question, will each part be pre-adjusted ? Since you have the jig that would be tits :)

Thx.

UPDATE

After some more considerations on how to improve the design even further, we have come up with a potential solution to improve the design. We are still working out the details but it seems to be feasible.
While the version offered with the bushing will for sure be sufficient to survive longer than the rest of the car and the bushing design totally appropariate for the application, there is a way to take it one step further.

As discussed with some of you guys in the beginning of the project it would be nice to allow to compensate for some of the rotational forces as well as compensate for flexing in the pedal box. The use of a rod end swivel joint was discussed but unfortunately the design wouldn’t allow us to use one due to limited space.

This is what we have:

This swivel joints are not cheap and we have to do some designing, but would be able to offer this as an upgrade option. Most likely it will cost about $55-60 more to realize.
I don’t think it is absolutely necessary but would improve the function and endurance of the part.

What do you guys think?

If there is enough interest, i will simply communicate this as an option once the preorder phase is over.

I'm in.
Feasible to include with one's current order?
$ and delivery time extension not an issue.
Verify and funds will be sent.

Yes sir. Nothing will change in regards of delivery time.
It will simply be an optional upgrade, we will just make two versions.
I will just need to know from everyone that has paid until the deadline which version they would like to have.

I'm in - while you're overdesigning and I'm going to be replacing parts, might as well go all out!

Hey all, Ben shipped me a production version of the over-center spring to test before he sends them all out to you. Due to some ongoing work on the car I won't have any usage feedback until next week.

Unfortunately I have none left and I’m not planning to have more made.
If anybody wants to organize a group buy, you are more then welcome to gauge some interest. I would have to order at least 20-30.

OK, thanks for your prompt reply.

I will see if I can still get standard BMW part for my dealer.

Hi all! Angry Ass here, wanted to provide everyone with an update on these clutch over center springs.

We've expanded on the original work done by Vision Metal Design and Ben Stoelzel to offer a solution to the failure-prone OEM clutch over center spring used in multiple classic BMWs.

We started with custom springs wound to perfectly match the OEM spring rate and length. Then we machined all components from steel for maximum clearance and rigidity. Finally all moving parts run on ultra low friction bushings to ensure smooth operation. See below for a few pictures. And here is a link to get yours today: https://angry-ass.com/product-organizer ... ter-spring
