The east wind brings destruction. In Native American Iroquois culture, the east wind is said to be brought by the Moose, whose breath blows the grey mist and sends down cold rains upon the earth.
Happy moniker for a car, no? It's appropriate since it's already destroyed my sanity, my sleep schedule, my wallet...
I dunno, I just literally translated it and thought it was nice. But the above interpretations are equally valid
Actually I thought you were still doing fine on the sanity part until you decided you needed to supercharge an M70 in a 30 year old car
Your wallet was already totally screwed, of course. Even more so now. But that's very relatable.

This thread delivers firmness...in my trousers...

Re: Ostwind 550e build
I have only one question: How is it possible for you to drive properly with the giant throbbing erection you must get every time you stab the go pedal?

Re: Ostwind 550e build
I must find a way to outdo this. I'm thinking m70 swap my truck and put the leftover 351w into a 2002. But not before stroking it out to 408.

Or find a way to put an M70 in a Miata. Who cares about balance when you haveCactus wrote:I must find a way to outdo this. I'm thinking m70 swap my truck and put the leftover 351w into a 2002. But not before stroking it out to 408.

Ermahgerd.
Re: Ostwind 550e build
Awesome to see a M70 in E28. Nice work!
But what motorbrackets/mounts did you use? I spoke with a guy with same project as you, and he claimed that he used both left and right enginebrackets originally from the V12 750 E32. I thought that sounded odd, but he was sure about that. He had no pictures to prove it though..
Do you have any pictures of the driver side exhaust too?
Very cool idea with the chargers too

Re: Ostwind 550e build
It's a Summit Racing radiator. Fairly cheap and cools incredibly well.BimmerDan wrote:Very nice, is that a custom radiator?

Re: Ostwind 550e build
The brackets were fabricated to fit. The exhaust is quite complex. The driver side comes down and under the motor then back over the subframe. It is all very closely tucked in and required a lot of careful cutting and a bit of extra heat shielding.Pedi wrote:Awesome to see a M70 in E28. Nice work!

I wonder if this car ever made it to a dyno. Oh wait!

Here's a video of it:

There's a better recording of the sound too. More info later on the outcome of the dyno runs.
