Really, never heard that.Zieg wrote:Floridians refer to Jacksonville as the largest city in Southern Georgia!!
Everything south of Ocala is just retired northerners. Is that the "real" FL?
Re: Florida people: likes, dislikes, reality check
whoever told you that is from GA. 80% of the population is south of Ocala. Pretty sure they are not all retirees...but we want their money (as we are the third largest state interms of population...and fastest growing) - so all are welcome...even cheeseheads

Re: Florida people: likes, dislikes, reality check
Glad this thread was bumped as I need to re-read through it. We are wrapping up a very long break down here that started with my 40th which we celebrated in Tampa at my favorite restaurant, Berns steakhouse, then Cape Coral and many day trips to Sanibel/Captiva over Christmas, and now we are at the Mouse-house in Orlando until Saturday. We are thinking very seriously about buying a vacation rental and future state retirement house in Cape Coral with canal/gulf boating access. We love it there by my mother-in-law's area of Cape Coral. Sanibel is an hour away by boat and I really like the area.
Real estate there with a boat lift and gulf access seems to be coming back strong so we probably can't delay too much.

I still need to make it to Sanibel/Captiva. I've heard it's glorious.
Now that RI is back to its usual BS of 20 degree mornings, I would drink that humidity up with a spoon.

I am unfortunately, only in FL for a few days before I head to London and ATL for work, but today is 65 and back to the mid 70's by the weekend. This is the best time of the year to live in FL and for me, it's a home airport with no snow.
