Haven't been on mye28 in awhile. Fell really behind on the updates in this thread, sorry guys. Well the car has dramatically changed since the last update.

Since then I have finally bought and installed the Air Lift universal kit, the 75562 and 75566 air struts. The management is a manual 4 way adjustment with a 5 gallon tank.

Some will like it some wont but this is a roof rack that started off as something I picked up off craigslist for almost free. I bolted down ceder boards to it and shortened the height by 3.5 inches. The cedar is stained with an outdoor mahogany finish. After that I had fun with it and bought some props to throw up on it.

The bbs 090 rc's I had bought a few months past on the e28 with the datsun 240z front lip.

The bbs rz 412's powder coated flat tan. This may be controversial I realize. I chose tan because I was inspired by a similar set of rz 412's I saw in olive drab. Anyway whatever color I chose I wanted it to be subtle. The wheels had multiple bends and the center cones the center caps lock onto were broken off at a tire shop so that was the main reason I had them completely refinished. I absolutely love how they turned out.

Future plans will be to refinish the bbs rc 090's and have a custom cat-less exhaust built for the car (something quiet but loud only at higher rpm) with dual 3in tips. look for something fast to swap out the stock 2.8 and a limited slip differential.

As long as you like riding around with random shit strapped to your roof...

People seem to enjoy it. It's something I see a lot in the VW scene, vintage coca cola coolers, luggage, its just for kicks to throw on for shows. I have a drift trike project that once I finish I will transport on top of the car. It especially helps since I lost 50% of my trunk space due to the managment system and sub woofer.

The kit requires fabrication. The 75562 and 75566 struts are welded onto the old strut to use the factory spindle. You have to cut up a stock set of struts. Steel sleeves come with the kit that are the adapters between the new and out struts. You cut the sleave to get the ride height at full inflate. The bags have about 3-4 inches of drop. The rear struts you have to use the old part the bolt goes through on the bottom of the strut as the one that comes in the kit is too small. The managment is strait forward I think the manual explains it well enough. I put the controls on the kicker panel to the left of the steering wheel.

I hope this somewhat helps. I'm not mechanicaly inclined so it's hard to explain this. Sorry about documenting it. I never had a camera with me at the shop. I found the built thread on stancetwerks not too helpful for me. If you go through with it message me with any questions you might have and I'll be happy to help.

Thank you. Yes the pic is edited hahaha. I didn't document the build but I could answer questions about it. I am thinking about a 3.5l swap turbo once I have the time and money. My 2.8 has been really strong and reliable to me I love it but I want something a bit quicker.

This type of display is not uncommon in heterogeneous parts of the United States.

My girlfriend is from Romania so that's why it caught my eye why I'm interested.

Well the tan does contrast with the dark arctic blue on the car. I guess it's not so subtle. I didn't want anything neon or bright. I did have the equipment and a shop but I am not mechanicaly inclined so I did get help from my dad. There was definitely some brain scratching though. It wasn't a weekend build for me.

That is awesome!! I was considering boggin up the antenna hole and putting a shark fin on, and I think this has pushed me over the line! looks awesome dude! I'm excited to get mine painted in the next few weeks now

I did this shark fin conversion on my old 533i and loved it so I did it on my 528i too. I would do some research on a good shark fin antenna. My reception on my current shark fin is OK but I don't have am. I don't remember if it was an am and fm fin.

I really like the paint job, where did you learn to paint? Did you do much wet sanding? That steering wheel and the door panels are great too!

I'm not big into stance stuff, but it doesn't look so bad on an E28

Thank you, I did not paint my car I just did the prep work sanding and masking then I paid a guy I know that paints cars daily and is good at it to shoot my car. There was three stages, first sanding, fix imperfections then primer, sand and fix last imperfections, wet sand and mask off for paint. I removed both front and rear windshields for painting to ensure no future flaking. The more work you put into the prep the better the paint will lay. It's good to have someone that paints regularly shoot the car.

Chris,

I appreciate all hot rodding and the effort involved in executing an idea effectively. It's only stupid if the owner drove his car in the slammed position. It's usually just slammed when parked. In that case it's not stupid. Consider it just composition for a picture.
