I hope you looked that car over really well, particularly in the rear. Looks to me like it was hit in the rear and isn't quite straight back there.

The bumper cover may have been removed and repainted. That happens plenty. But Chris, what other signs of a rear hit?

And, like I said, they treated me well. Did they have any info on this E34, SeaWolf?

Might just be an illusion, but it looks like the line drops behind the rear door, particularly on the left side. Also, the 540i badge is in the wrong spot, which is what made me look at it closer.

If I'm seeing things, I apologize.

No, I apologize, I could be wrong. It's hard to see bodylines clearly on these somewhat dark photos. The reflection of the curb across the street definitely looks lower on the driver's side rear quarter, now that you mention it.

And to the buyer, just because I said they were great to deal with doesn't mean I didn't look over my car with my paint gauge and checked it out real close before pulling the trigger. Did you put it on the lift? Also, I warned about the V8, so I'm guilt-free. :)

BMW 1988 535is-firm - $1000 (queens, ny)

I've upgraded to a newer car and was planning to keep this as a project car but i can't maintain two cars.
I really hate to let this go but, hopefully the new owner will appreciate what has been done.
There are a few problems with the car like the speedometer does not turn and is constantly at 273kish. I've bought a new battery as of 9/5/11 . I'm selling the car "AS IS" for a reasonable price. The condition of the paint is fair.
A few dings but, appearance is good for being over 20 years old.

****I have original 14 inch rims with tires although pictures shows 17' BMW contour replica rims (on the car), will sell with both sets (14 inch rims on other photo) , otherwise will just sell car with '14 inch tires.
Exisiting tires on the rims but, need to be replaced. Willing to sell car and rims for a negotiable price.

Selling -BMW White 1988 535is *****SOLD AS IS*****

Engines runs powerful with 273k miles on it.
Car is 5 speed

Upgrades:
Vogtland springs lowered
clear turning signal and side markers replaced ( as seen in pictures)
Rear turning signal replaced with clear lenses (Rear driver side came off and is missing though, currently covered with clear tape)
Triflo Catback Exhaust installed
New light weight flywheel
Short shifter installed
Short Ram intake
ECU with performance chip
Side skirt and back body kit installed (as shown in pictures)
Tinted 20% back, 15% front
Under carriage grill installed into protect Oil pan, (very hard to find)

**updated as of June 18 2012*
Bought a new battery for the car
The car has been parked but started every other week. Engine still strong and starts on first crank everytime, although haven't driven it on the street
I have a set of 14inch rims willing to sell for a cheaper price with the car.

*Would like to sell car asap*

Serious inquiries only!

I really wished you owned an E28 M5. You're one of the few owners who would look after one properly.

OK so it's done 100k miles, but that interior looks decidedly second hand to me - like it's had a lot of repetitive use.

Go on Chris, make them an offer they can't refuse!

RC is right - someone like you could bring her back to her former glory.

Im selling my 1988 535i with 262,000 miles, 5 speed car. Ive had it for about a year and put about 8k miles on it, its been as reliable as an old dog. Its mildly modified with a Miller WAR chip that has 4 switchable maps, mustang injectors, custom intake and exhaust, spax springs and bilstein shocks, performance sway bars, newer brakes, good continental tires, full HID conversion. Air blows cold and it runs like a champ, but the body isnt perfect. Some dings and stuff. In the last 500 miles ive done transmission mounts, Center Drivesh.aft Support, Guibo, and upper control arm bushings. the interior is damn near mint, no cracked dash, no cracked seats, everything works. Ive been commuting about 70 miles a day in it with no problems. This car is a blast to drive. im looking to get $4900 but im open to offers. Or even interesting trades.

Difficult to see, but the reflection from the sunroof glass is visible in one of the pictures. It's also listed in the "options".

Sunroof is fully visible in one of the last photos. The car should be parted however, it's missing the 8/10 openend from the tool kit...
