Car has been running fine. I put the boost controller back in and turned it up a little, 12psi, but that could really be 15 or 16. I was running from Durham to Charlotte a little too hard. Triple digits, 130 a few time under very hard long pulls, one after the next. Never gave her time to recover. It was a VR hg that I installed a while back while on an extremely tight budget.

Now she will get a cometic MLS, b35 cam is going back in. Maybe a water to air intercooler setup.
Just hoping I didn't crack the head like last time.

It would be nice if someone had an extra upgraded 745 k27 they could let go off for a nice price.

I'm smiling and have to say that it was fun while it lasted. Now I just have to do it all over again...

So this is just detonation that's popping your gaskets?
16psi is nothing. The party is just starting. Maybe you should look into meth injection!

How about no. Everyone I've ever known to run Meth ends up blowing an engine when it conks out, and despite failsafes it always does one way or another.

I will never build a turbo car that relies on some consumable fluid to prevent the engine from destroying itself.

I feel like there's got to be a way to implement it safely. Can you have megasquirt pull timing or adjust fueling if it sees that the meth tank is empty? I understand the argument that it shouldn't be necessary, but I'd be willing to bet that there's a fail-safe way to do it.

"toasted"
Head doesn't look to have been cracked. I went over it with a magnifying glass. But I know there can be issues in areas I can't see.
I'll be delivering it to the machine shop tomorrow with a one day turn around time.
b35 cam going back in. It will be decked to 20RA.

You can run over 20 psi on pump gas. Why bother with methanol? It will only help mask a bad tune more often than not. Seems like a band aid.

I would rather run E-85 than pump gas + meth.

Good old Victor Rienz. Now she's getting what she should have before, MLS..... And yes, it was a blast. multiple high speed pulls up to about 130mph.......

So after owning this car for twelve years, a crazy turbo build, a terminal hg event and a possible sale, I've decided to keep it. I'm in the process of collecting the goodies to make her a very nice dd. Upgraded k27 already in hand.

But it would have been one cazy part out.

Love to hear that- I was looking forward to some parts but this is a better result :-) interested in the numbers you post with the new turbo!

The "to do" list.

Parts I have and need to install:
Turbo
Power steering pump
Front subframe with reinforced steering box mount
Tight low mileage steering box
New ps lines

Parts in route:
Brake booster
Rebuilt BEGI RRGPR with Mr. Bell's latest design

After that I will install my manual e24 recaro sports. Still not sure if im sticking with cardinal red or going with a dove grey or some crazy unheard of color.

I still need to drill out my oil pan for the turbo oil return. Kinda stressed about that process but I think I can handle it.
I'll be pulling the oil pan off the car for that job.

Hoping for 320rwhp.

So I've swapped in an upgraded k27. Can't get my wide band to read. It's stuck on full lean. Initially when I started the car it went full lean. I let it run for 10 minutes and cut it off. 5 minutes later I started it and it look to be just a tad rich in the 13s, but before I could adjust the gear, it went full lean. No matter what I did with the gear it stayed lean. Also, it looks like I'm burning oil. The oil change yield no milk shake, plus I'm running a cometic hg so I hopefully can rule out the hg. I hope the bottom end I swapped in last year was respresented correctly at sub 110k miles.

I'm at a loss on the smoking issue...... a little research said that engines that burn oil will kill an o2 sensor relatively quite. So both my sensors may be toast.

In my (relatively limited) experience burning oil is the quickest way to kill an LC-1 sensor. That said, those things seem to die if you look at them the wrong way.

Ditto on the lc-1. I've gone thru no less than 4 sensors with mine in a 4year span.

So the beast is running again. But I'm blowing smoke now. Not sure where that came from. Still haven't replaced the 02 sensors so its not tuned. Its full rich on the wideband, 10. Turning the gear produces no results. Car wont run if I disconnect the ground lead on the battery, but with everything running, high beams, blower motor, wipers, I'm still in the 13s. Alternator is still charging.

Rich running condition was due to a faulty stock O2 sensor. I replaced it and now have a relative good reading on the wideband. I think my plug wires are shot so they will be checked next. WB is jumping between 13.9 and 15.2.
its not as steady as before but much better than full rich. No more smoke. Oil change next as it smell like gas. I think I'm just going to relax until the spring time.

:) Yeah dude. I swapped in a new stock O2 sensor and spark plug wires and she is brand new again. The idle is as it should be. Starts right up every time after sitting for a week or two. Still a few small things to do before spring, but it looks like she's mine for keeps.

Since I couldn't move her for $4500 I may as well get her running perfect, slap a coat of paint on her and have a fun car for meets and weekends.

I still get a hard on when I pull up to the house and see her sitting there waiting for me. LOL.....
