td325ic.....thanks Todd
If Todd doesn't have it, he finds it...cleans it, FABRICATES shipping containers for it if necessary....what can I say...?
Ismellfish2....thanks Will
Same day responses, and flexible to accomodate the details of the deal...bravo.
(a few more are waiting to be consummated....I'll report then)
Highly recommended, quick communication....

Chef Shawn sold me a E28 dash vent kit, all parts correct. Parts fitted right in. Used original vent flap and lever as already in place. Good deal.

Very good experiences with Wkohler, blkbmw and ricksloan. Good communication, prompt shipment (more or less) and "as advertised" parts.
I must be the unluckiest guy on this board, however, as my dealings with Steve Haygood have been exasperating. He's emailed me twice that things "have shipped" ... and they haven't. I spoke to him on the phone 2 days ago and he promised to figure out what was up and get in touch. He hasn't. It's been about 5 weeks, and I was told it'd take about 3.
If I'd been told it'd take 5 weeks, OK. If I hadn't received false assurances that things had been sent ... twice ... it'd be less frustrating.
And this is after I tried like heck to buy his car from him. All I wanted was pictures, which, after weeks of requests and assurances that they'd be sent, never showed up.
I'm currently waiting for Low Level to send wheels I paid for on April 22nd. He'd assured me of shipment early last week, (the week of the 27th) which didn't happen, but he followed up with "I'm (out of town), I'll send them this (past) weekend." OK, shyt happens, a few extra days isn't going to kill me.
However, since then, no word, no communication, nothing. If anybody hereon knows AJ, please ask him to get in touch with me.
In both of the prior unsatisfactory instances, I'm willing to be patient as long as there's some communication, but I have no sense of humor about a seller's indifference (at best) when I've already paid more than $1000.
I'll be happy to edit/update this as events unfold.
EDIT May 9. Received the wheels from Low Level -- they are as he described them.
Received about 1/3 of the order from Steve... which doesn't do me much good, as I need essentially all of the parts so I don't have to tear the car apart several times. He called to tell me that "some of the parts" had been sent; I asked when I might receive the rest... he said he'd find out and let me know. That was Wednesday... no word from him yet.
EDIT May 13. Left a vm with Steve yesterday, saying politely that if he couldn't confirm delivery timetable by c/o/b today, I'd cancel the unperformed part of the order. Got a call from Steve this morning, saying everything shipped yesterday and I should have it Friday or Monday. Will keep you posted.
Have had a great experience with Mario at VSR. He spent a lot of time with me on the phone and was very helpful. Ordered the center exhaust section, lightened flywheel and exhaust cam. Expect everything to go smoothly.
EDIT May 19. Nothing arrived Friday, or yesterday .. so yesterday I sent an email requesting tracking #'s and saying that my sense of humor about the whole thing had been spent. This morning, Steve sent a (single) tracking #, even though he'd told me it would be several packages from different locations. Now, wait for it.... wait for it... the tracking number was not valid. 9 hours later it's still invalid.
I sent an email canceling the remainder of the order, stipulating how much was owed. Then..... a package shows up today containing some, but less than half of what remains outstanding. And -- some of what was sent was duplicative of stuff I've received!
I wrote him, revising the refund amount and informing him that he's sent an extra set of control arms, which I'd be happy to return to him, at his expense, once I receive the refund.
The rest of the bits n pieces I ordered from my local dealer (who takes VERY good care of me). The red m tech springs are available in the country, btw.
Every time I trusted Steve when he wrote or told me "it's been sent" it cost me another week. I'm done with this.

It's not just you JP.
I've been getting similar treatment from Steve for the better part of six months on an order I placed for over $900 worth of mostly common parts. I think I've received about two-thirds of that order now, but it's required weekly emails and calls. I've been told several times that it's shipped, or that it will ship, and even when "it" finally ships, it turns out to be a couple of pieces, not the remainder.
Much has been said about how great Steve is, and I don't doubt that. He seems to be a nice guy and as several have noted, he is going through tough times, but I wouldn't order from him again unless things changed, or unless he had a part in stock.
If you search through the forum here there are many people who have glowing reviews of his service, but for newbies (like myself) who don't know the current score, I would recommend steering clear, at least for now until something changes. Just because he was reliable in the past doesn't mean he can get it for you now.
It's been a nightmare. It's wasted a lot my time and it's strained my relationship with my favorite body shop. I've finally resorted to cutting my losses and rebuying parts from people who can actually get it done.
There goes the money I tried to save in the beginning...

I've got to give it up for board member "Capital". I shipped him a valance and 2 fenders that ended up costing me more than I had been quoted. He then gave be twice what I asked for as compensation! And I acknowledged I knew he didn't have to do so before hand!
Stand up buyer!
I will edit this later with other people I have dealt with.

ElGuappo experience
Just wanted to say that my trading experience with ElGuappo has been less than ideal. In over 125 deals online this has been the second worst deal i have gone through(the first, i was scammed out of 125$ on ebay, and paypal/ebay could never recover my money)
I sent ElGuappo(Jay) paypal for a fuse box cover on april 19th, and have yet to see a package, or a tracking number.
On the 19th i was supposed to get it "in a couple days" may 1st, it was supposed to be sent on the 4th of may.
on may 9th i sent another email, no response.
may 11th, i sent another, threatened to post on mye28, got a response saying it would be sent that night(may 11th), and i should see it in a few days. (i mentioned i would be in the bay area that weekend if he wanted to meet up in person and get it then..no go.., and i couldnt come to the wrench fest..
)
may 18th, sent an email asking about it. no response.
19th, another email sent, no response.
this morning i sent another email, again threatening to post on mye28, and just screw it, ill buy it off bav auto for $5 more.., got a response about how it was supposed to have gone out last week with his fathers packages.
sent him another email, not as friendly as the previous ones, and asked for a tracking number atleast.
no response all day(although he is on google chat).
Time to post here, warn other people about what may be a poor deal, or a poor dealer, who knows, but i figure i ought to lay out the facts and let you guys deal with Jay on your own poragitive.
Andy
ps. if you feel as if this may be my fault for any reason, i have done over 125 documented trades,
http://heatware.com/eval.php?id=17799
EDIT: Still no responses to e-mails, even though i see him on mye28.com now. Just filed a claim with paypal(5/27). Hoping to just get my money back at this point. We shall see.
Final EDIT:
Paypal claim was resolved, he never communitcated with paypal, so they took the money out of his account, and put it back in mine. The sad thing is that he is still trading(atleast on the san fransisco bay E28 group, so i know he is alive, and has access to a computer, but just chose to do this to me. I would never deal with Jay again, even in person, and i wouldn't reccomend any one else does as well.
peace.

Member 3453CC
I just bought a set of his rims and tires from member (3453cc) who was extremly helpful and made the transaction easy. The rims and tires are in great condition like he stated and worth every penny. So we met up at a rest stop off the GSW and right there he pulled out his jack and we got to business. Damn bolts gave us some work, but we got it done just as it began to rain. Very nice, helpful and honest member and would do business with him again.
Have had great experiences buying from
aussiebastard,
DaRedRocket,
bimmerguy2002,
mojocoggo.
Mastercad50 let me raid his parts car in exchange for beer, an excellent individual.
I have had other good experiences but it has been a while and I have deleted messages.
Dealing with vatoloco was interesting as the communication was sorely lacking on his part and I never got all the parts I purchased. I even made sure to correctly itemize the part order as clearly as I could. He wanted me to pay shipping to return the wrong grille worth less than the shipping costs.
Steve Haygood has been nothing short of frustrating to deal with. I should have learned from my first order that took a few months to get here and came with missing parts and an extra trunk gasket (which I returned with the brake bomb that I needed immediately, not months later) The second order took many months to arrive after many broken promises and even flat out lies that parts had been shipped when they were not! He left out a tie rod and left lower control arm that I purchased as part of my rubber bushing of all kinds replacement plan as well as many other small parts. The last contact I had with him was on april 24 and he has not responded to my emails or phone calls since then.
kicking dead horse, hoping parts will arrive someday.

Wow... not sure how I missed this thread.

- Always seems to have all the random parts I needed. Thanks for the W123 fogs! I love them.
- Thanks for a great deal on the airdam as well as being so cool with pick-up and payment.
- Thank you for the IS airdam mounting hardware!!
- The rear seat is exactly as discribed. Excellent packaging and quick to ship. Thanks, Andy!!
I just had an excellent purchasing experience with Geoff C. I bought a set of springs from him. He shipped them promptly, packed them well and they're better than advertised.
Kit533i gave me a trouble-free purchasing experience as well for an E12 red-handled screwdriver.
thesixerkid and I worked out a deal where he helped me out with a Craigslist purchase in exchange for some late E24 parts. Everything went extremely smoothly, despite my ineptitude identifying servotronic steering boxes. He was more than fair in his solution.
I did a very large bulk purchase from Tammer in Philly. He was great, kept me informed every step of the way and I wouldn't hesitate buying from him again. I've bought several things from him in the past, which went smoothly as well.
I bought some brake parts from m.olennick. I had previously dealt with him, but in person. He shipped quickly and packed everything promptly.
I bought a fusebox from taftonomos. Prompt shipment, good communication.
I bought a set of Alpina Wheels with tires and an Alpina steering wheel from bigdaddy. This was done in-person through an agent at 5er Fest and I'm quite satisfied. He even threw in a coin tray!
Bought a rear spoiler from 535is-pa. Quick shipping, as advertised. I was impressed.
I bought some mudflaps from recaro18. Came quickly and as advertised.
I bought an oil cooler and some sway bars from formula1_euro. Everything went without a hitch.
I bought a GlossHaus kit from eurowannabe. Not sure why I needed it, but the purchase went smoothly. A couple pieces are missing, but whatever.
Shawn D. fixed a trashed LED Euro turn signal for me. He did a killer job and I'm very appreciative. blkbmw provided the Euro parts for him to do it, too.

Jeep Jockey, awesome parts although there were some minor mixups, premium shipping and wrapped nicely.
C. Meyers for shipping the "euro" check panel, awesome shape and super shipping from dooown unndah was expecting to have to translate from German, but didn't have to
my mistake.
johnnye23 for shipping me a head although it was warped and non-usable, he charged me NOTHING.
My luck for purchasing hasn't been the greatest, but I can't complain one bit about the sellers. I have never seen such backwards-bending on this site to help another member out, no matter who. Thanks!

boardsportsrule: Great price and prompt shipping on a set of door pulls/arm rests (whatever they're called). Very communicative.
I would (and will) buy from him again.
south26: Good transaction. Same as above.
Ricky535: Picked up an awesome set of E30 seats from him. Better than described.

Kohler.....not only got advice on the "mysterious" #6 plug wire...he had one, and DELIVERED IT to my door. I got to meet the legend in person, see the amazing car he has...and
put a face with a name.
Great guy...thanks Chris.
Bimmerguy2002- thanks for the advice and EVAP valve shipped quickly.
