I guess this post serves as the answer to the PM and personal email I sent.....DAVID

I wonder which of the members would be the best resource to read up on the diagnosis of these clutch type problems.....my car is like many on the board....250000 miles....second clutch, second transmission.

The clutch system has been working quirky lately....gradual and thought maybe it was just me. Seems like the pedal engages many times too close to the floor and just very recently 2 gear (sometimes 1 st) wants to nash and is hard to get into gear....often a double clutch maneuver will get me there. At first when I noticed the quirkiness I just thought it was the clutch being old and worn out. But after browsing thru the two primary threads related to this issue I see that the problems may be three or four fold.....clutch slave, clutch master, flex line, pedal bracket or maybe even the clutch itself.

If any prior subscriber could give me a heads up on the best path to test out the ideas sequentially I'd be very grateful...I'm not much of a diyer and the mechanics around here aren't very receptive to seeing my car show up to work on....and skill set is sketchy anyway.

Still good to know the bracket is still available if I need/want it.....never heard of that problem until a few days ago. Lots of reading to do....hoping I don't screw up my synchros in my tranny in the meantime.

Any input graciously accepted.

I feel very dense. I went to install this today in my 1988 535is and I couldn’t see where it should go.

My car has the cruise control tab above the clutch pedal, but I couldn’t clearly see where this bracket is supposed to go. I tried to use other pictures to figure it out, too, but no luck.

Does anyone have any picture to get me started to identify clearly where the bracket goes, please?

Thank you in advance.

Just installed on my 279k mile 87 535is, and I'm very happy with the results. I installed it at the same time I replaced the clutch primary and secondary cylinders, and maybe there's a placebo effect going on, but the pedal action just feels more solid than it ever did. More importantly I don't have to worry about my pedal bracket cracking. Thanks to David for a great product and for making our community a better place.

If you haven't broken yours, apparently it's a matter of time.  I broke the one in my E30 pretty good:

My shop ordered the IE but I found the Roth Engineering one when I was searching around, and I liked its additional tab and beefier metal.

I made a vid to compare them, but that's the net.

(I also took the opportunity to upgrade to the bronze pedal bushings and some other stuff)

Dave,

Thank you so much for sending me the screws and serrated nuts. What a gentleman you are (For the curious I only paid for shipping).
Apparently, either I installed the bracket incorrectly, (which it could well be the case) or my previous shop did not follow your Revised #5 instructions, hence one of the bolts breaking in two after 6 years of use. BTW the new double sided printed in color instructions are superb and really clever as when one is upside down facing the pedals, just turning the page vertically, will place you in the correct way to finish the job, without turning re-orienting the other side, so thank you for that as well.
This time, I doubled checked my clutch master cylinder installation is perfectly aligned to the bracket and the bolts are fine. I also lost one of the nuts under the carpet, so in a sense I feel I successfully passed the grade!

Again, thank you Dave. What a great product you've made.

Best,

Jackie

Jackie, thanks for reply glad everything is good with your installation, I am not sure why a bolt broke, the only thing i can think of is the 6mm bolts need to be tight before you tighten the 6mm nut on the master cylinder, hope all is good now and I appreciate the acallads
.    Regards, David

Hello guys,

Does anyone have the dimensions/layout for this?
The shipping would cost me more then the thing, so I guess I need to fab my own. Would like to save 1 or 2 hours if someone is nice enough, so I don't have to measure everything

Really?  Shipped by whom?

Maybe things have changed a ton, but a few years ago I shipped a camera bracket to Israel from the east coast of the US for $12 via USPS.

Yeah, it's really expensive. Funny thing is they even tax the shipping itself, which is VAT (27%) + tax (5%) + a flat rate for "handling"... so yes. It adds up very quick.

Yeah,
