The technical debrief of Randy (Duke) Cunningham is a testament to the F4. He couldn't outmaneuver the Mig, so he just kept going vertical in burner, the Mig tried and couldn't keep up...Duke would just wait for the Mig to fall-off, then drop in behind him on the way down.

Maybe you could combine a visit to Davis Monthan with a visit to Cunningham. The Federal Prison where he's serving his nine year sentence is also in Tucson.

"BT" is an abbreviation for "Buoy Toy" — a 42 foot Carver yacht that Cunningham eventually purchased for $140,000 (noted as "140" to the right). The boat purchase was financed by Wade in exchange for $16 million in contracts. Cunningham renamed it the "Duke-stir."

Yeah I knew he's in jail. I was sorely disappointed when that whole thing broke, he went from a " hero" to felon. I wonder what happened to him.

Anyhow, he flew the piss outta that Phantom.

No kidding. What a train wreck. That's a shame. The guy's a fucking moron outside of the pilot's seat and got exactly what he deserved. Probably less actually. That wikipedia article was a good read.

Cunningham represented the 50th congressional district in the northern part of San Diego County so we had fairly extensive coverage. There was a lot of sleaze that didn't make into the Wiki article.

Note that the highest-scoring US ace is a WSO, not a pilot!
