After two full days of work on this project, the Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger is in and running perfectly. This car is now a friggin' monster!! It will certainly take some time to aquaint myself with all this new power under my right foot.
I cannot thank Darin and Mark enough for their time and help with this job...they refused to accept any compensation for their efforts. You guys are awesome friends indeed.
I still have some editing to do but here are a couple of videos. The car was not yet fully assembled yet. It is now.
Mmmmm, I used to have a 89 Mustang convertible.....once I got the Vortech and TFS heads and GT40 intake on it it made about 450 hp. Man what a difference. I could take off reasonable in first.....and then BAM, powershift into 2nd and just ride it out sideways with the tires spinning. Loved that car.
I took the car out yesterday and gave it a good run. As TurboChris said, it takes off nicely in 1st then wants to entirely break loose in 2nd gear. The blower kicks in around 2800rpm...it just flys after that. I am still learning the power band on this car although it seems fairly predictable already.
As for the overall installation of this kit, I would say it went extremely well. Edelbrock estimated about 10-12 hours for install. It took us about 20 hours. We did run into a couple of minor hiccups including a wrong TMAP harness and TB gasket. Mark was able to rig a harness across the intake until they send me another one to go around the back of the engine.
Here's how it looks now:

You got a stack of rear tire spares on the side of the house?
Seems to be an effective rubber to smoke conversion machine!
Oh yeah, I have four spare wheels and tires to use up before upgrading to bigger rubber! I keep a full size spare in the trunk...fits nicely.
I'll see some of you guys at D and C's parties later this week. Please do not expect any exhibitions of speed, etc...I need to keep a lid on this thing!!!

As John mentioned the installation wasn't without a few speed bumps but I think most of that is due to the fact that neither of us had ever really 'worked' on this motor before or previously done any type of under-hood upgrades. Just like R&Ring an e28 dash, once you have done it the overall process gets very clear and simple.
As for the power, the feel from the passenger seat was quite impressive to say the least. And there is no kidding that once you hit second gear the car wants to GO!
It will be interesting to see how much tread is left on the rear tires when I next see 'em on Friday...

Darin - Rob from Edelbrock just called. He's expressing the parts out tonight so I should have them in the morning. He has also invited us for a complete private factory tour of their facility in Torrance on July 26 at 0900. They don't do these tours for just anyone asking. Awesome dude...let's do it!!

Here's one more link to a rather conservative up hill take-off without laying down any rubber. You can hear the spool up start to whine in 2nd gear. Oh boy, is this great!!!
Congrats brother. Now get some suspension on that ride!!!
Thanks for your assistance with the project Bryan. I seem to recall telling you 5 years ago it would happen.. How about you getting me a deal on those suspension parts? I'll need brakes, headers, exhaust system and a clutch too, please.

Haha...yeah, me too!

D.
Still have much video to go through. A good film editing program would be a nice place to start...looking for that now. As for you washing your tool someplace, it sure didn't happen on my watch. It probably occurred after you left my place and hit up Leanne?
I forgot to thank Mike Burger for helping too. He saved us a couple of hours when he pointed out that "extra gasket" that looked kinda important!
Due to the huge increase in power, it became clear that the suspension needed upgrading. I decided to get the Eibach Pro Kit with lowering springs, struts and shocks. We got it done yesterday at Mark's shop...the job took about 3 hours.
The car is now lowered approximately 1.5" in front and back.
Perfect ride, firm but not too stiff. Steering is dialed in and very predictable. Body roll is significantly reduced...awesome handling.
It's great to have a BMW master tech help work on my non-BMW ride...thanks Mark!
The next upgrade will probably be wheels and tires. Oh yeah, I'm running outta money.
If Griff is the kind of dog that likes to ride with his head out the window, you should get him some doggy goggles. Also, maybe put some papers down in case he has an accident when you punch it.

At just under 400 RWHP, this car is uba-adequate as my daily driver. The speed-shop tuner has recommended a pulley swap and other tricks to produce another 40-50 HP. Hhhmmmmm...still thinking about it.

Oh man a dealer's worse nightmare. Did you video tape the whole purchase process from meet and greet to over the curb? I would have thrown you out the moment you pulled out the camera.
