I almost once bought a 320i prior to finding my first 535i -- the 320i needed a heck of a lot less work -- and it was a nice little car. But never ever did I think a 320i could look as menacing as this one, or as well finished. This is the the 320i -- 333i -- BMW never built but should have.

So, some of you may know this already, but as things happen over and over again you kind of get used to them...even bad things! You somehow either expect them or are numb to the outcome. Eg: Auction ends, high bidder comes to look at the car and is late, full of excuses, and then asks me to explain everything about the car to him (as I do), he then shifts over to the Hartge and I do the same, he wants to "think about it" and I never hear from him.

Second guy comes (never bids on the car) but contacts me through the auction. I pick him up at the airport and he falls in love with the car, but I can tell he is like a dealer (which he is, by the way) looking at a trade in. He then takes the car for a drive and is blown away. He then tells me that the clutch is too heavy and the cost is too high and wants to be taken back to the airport! WTF???????

I am supposed to have $10k for my wife tomorrow and here I sit!

I am handing it over to the Big Guy upstairs as I just don't understand any of this, and I am sure he does.

By the way, after he left I called my wife and asked her if the clutch was too heavy? She laughed.

He didn't win the auction as I think it ended with reserve not met?

Think about all the people who have ever been at a live auction and won a car though. I imagine there are many that get caught up in the moment of bidding, the excitement, etc. If you took them out of that environment and showed the car to them at the price they bid it to, a lot would never want to buy it. Perhaps it's something like that going on.

This is such a special car Ron I hope you find the right buyer for it soon. I continue to be amazed at what you can accomplish. Incredible.

Ron unfortunately this is the typical behavior of todays stressed economic buyer mentality.....sucks balls. Hell in hindsight, I should have played hard ball when I bought my M5 a few months ago but I was too easy....could have save a few grand.

For the type of car you're selling and the price asked, it would be expected to run through a series of buyers that want to look but not buy attitude. This is typical. It is a lot of money to spend on an old, modified BMW which is not to everyone's taste. If I was in the market for such a car I too would have to think seriously about if it was worth it to me or not. I do not spend $25K+ on an old car lightly being there are many things I can do with that money. It's always better to have money in the bank then a car you don't drive much in the garage. Finding a buyer is much harder the more expensive the car is, especially a modified car. I could see you will need to find the "right" buyer for this "right" car, which could take months being it's during the holiday season when car buying is not most peoples top priority!

BTW Ebay can't force you to buy something you don't want. worse that can happen is they freeze your account if you back out of a deal. Normally nothing happens but some bad feedback. I've sold and re-sold many car car on ebay due to buyers winning and not paying. That is life! People never follow through.....
