hi . sorry no pic,
has bolt with a locking nut going through the back of the std tensioner just stops the piston from going completly slack

sorry about the quality of the vids ,
filmed on a digital handy cam mounted on a tripod and straped down where the back seat base would live .
some clips i just sat behind my mates car so as to film there cars .(red m535i , e34 M5 ,e34 540i 6spd)
overtaking e34 m5 , e34 540i 6spd 3.45diff .
R33 GTR skyline ,
forgot to start camera to record me catching up on a e46 m3 CSL

car went quite well , temp started to raise up a bit over half at some times (about 12:30-1:00 on the temp gauge).
it was getting upto 30deg c at the track though .
will have to look into a bigger fan setup or maybe replace the front ac fan with a e34 type one and switch to turn it on manually .
has all new coolant system components new radiator , new water pump ,hoses etc etc .
the one thing that concerns me is the thermostat , should i replace it with a much lower temp one can you get race type ones say 55deg C etc instead of the 88 or 82 deg c etc .
also mayb the std e28 m5 radiator just isn't up to track work on the fact that my engine has been bored out to 95mm bores etc ?? normally runs at about 11oclock on the gauge and creeps upto half when in traffic etc.
also have this problem (was a problem before the engine rebuild etc) when coming in from a track session , when pretty hot etc the car will stall when it goes back to idle and wont start unless its towed start etc or just left for about half an hour to cool down etc , just cranks but no spark etc have done lots of tests ,
car has different ecu , alterantor , starter etc and still has the problem , i am thinking its the crank trigger sensors on the gearbox bellhousing are failing when the gearbox is getting hot etc , dont have the problem with normal road driving etc just when blasting around the track for 10mins or more .
the sensors still have a resistance reading , but i am wondering is the voltage trigger is just not enough for the ecu to reconise it when trying to start on the starter motor but when pull started it starts fine when over about 1000rpm etc .
the only thing is this getrag 260 gearbox that i am using is from a 1986 e28 525i 528i m30 and doesn't have the cooling fines underneth like the original one from the M535i did have also i had to get the holes drilling into the casting on the side of the gearbox bellhousing to except the crank sesnors.
any thoughts ?? or help would be great .
and happy new year to you guys

miller maf unit arrived

this should help the engine breath a bit
will get the factory plenium chamber modifed to except 4" intake pipe etc
this is a millar maf replecment unit for the standard old barn door flap type afm .
which is a bit restrictive and old school way of measuring air flow
details here

mounted the maf unit up today
modified the wiring to the afm , fitted the miler maf ecu chip.
starts and runs , makes big sucky sound now.
off in the morning to get it tuned up on a dyno.

ok , took the car in today for a remap after fitting the miller maf unit .
came up to 182rwkw 244rwhp ,10rwkw over previous time with a std afm unit.
had a few issues with pinging , due to we think low fuel flow (old worn fuel pump??)
and wrong fuel pressure reg fitted 2.5bar instead of 3bar etc.
also need to do a few other things and checks.
like get the injectors cleaned serviced or replaced etc.
get rid of the inline fuel dampers , check intank pump filter , check/replace fuel filter etc.
fit a wire mesh in front of the maf unit to straighten out the air flow.
then back for a proper tune.

quick update , have replaced the inline fuel pump with a brand new genuine bosch one. have replaced the the intank one with some after market one ( a bit of a fiddle to fit) , new fuel filter , swapped the fuel pressure reg for correct 3bar type .
just have to swap out the 2 fuel lines in the engine bay and get rid of the little fuel damper things in the lines .
have had the injectors checked , cleaned descaled , new seals and end caps etc , so they are all good now like new.
now just have to take the car back to the dyno for a final(hopefully) remap of the ecu.

Look forward to seeing the new dyno results...........

"but rhd headers are not as nice as the lhd euro headers"
Any chance of either posting or sending me photos of the RHD headers?

I have Fritz headers fitted to my b36. They cannot be improved upon. They use all the available room available. When I rapped them I had to use washers on the engine mount because it was fouling the steering box.
This picture shows that the Fritz manifold has got larger tubing that the standard e34 M5 right hand drive manifold! Look at the outlets. Compared to the e28 M5 right hand drive manifold on a dyno the Fritz releases another 15bhp

final tune and update

quick update
its done!!!!
taken a while to sort it out . but finally i can drive the car propely
went to gavin's (hi-velocity) today.
gavin did his magic , remapped the ecu with the new millar maf unit fitted.
have had to do a bit of a overhaul on the fuel system
2 new fuel pumps, new filter , proper fuel reg fitted , got rid of the fuel dampers in the fuel lines near the engine.
had all the injectors cleaned , descaled etc so all 100%.
fitted a metal mesh just before the MAF unit to straighten out the air.
goes really well now , sounds pretty neat.
power goes flat at the top but we think maybe the exhaust is strangling it a bit.
maybe in the future i might look into sorting that out.
make about the same power as my 4.4L v8 but not quite the torque.
enjoy the video.
