Nice looking car. I would have kept it just a 533i personally, as I think that's an interesting enough car without the m badge, especially when its so elegantly styled, but to each his own I suppose.

I would take a guess that it's the only one in Australia, albeit not a 'real' 533i like the US model.

The badge was there when i got it and probably has been there for the 27 years of its life. IMO to remove it now would not be right, and i certainly don't claim it to be an ///M car.

Thanks mate. It's definitely mostly an 528 but with a 3.3 motor, still l-jetronic etc.


Had a good couple of wins tonight:

Resolved the weak windscreen washer spray, this has baffled me for a while. Pump sounds strong, hoses are clear, nozzles are clear, but a limp spray. Uncool with a bit of dust on the windscreen.

After mucking around for quite a while without success, i gave it a try with the hood up for some reason. Nice and strong.
Then i noticed that the the hose had a slight kink near the hood hinge. So it turns out that one of the retaining clips is rotated 90 degrees and when the hood is full down it crimps the hose and restricts the flow.

It's the obvious things that always seem to get me :laugh:

And finally found the source of the fuel smell, was a small leak on the backside of the hose connecting the starter valve to the fuel rail.

Gave it a prod and got a good gush of fuel! Have cut a centimetre of cracked hose off, so now no leak. Will replace it properly soon.

Unfortunately then the idle seemed to go all lumpy for some reason. Might be the next thing to sort out. :(
