That is the most gorgeous E28 I have ever laid my eyes on.

Any interest in making more molds of that kit and reselling it? :D

Im new to this forum, and thought it would be a good place to publish the car we have been building for some time.

Since the E9 3.0 CSL is possible to buy, we didnt choose that easy path when it was time to build our new race car...

First, we retired the E28 M535i we used to run in the racing series.

Excellent build. What are some specs on the motor? Is it a>a or w>a turbo or N/A?

Hi! Thanks!

Motor is S38 B38 24 valve six fitted with a short stroke high rev crankshaft from S38 B36. Intake and exhaust manifolds is the B38 and also the electronics so far, but original aluminum airbox will be replaced by a high flow carbon type and mapped with a DTA programmable engine control unit shortly.

Will solve a lot of problems the S38 brings with it when its not connected to a E34 instrument cluster... Limp mode, limp mode and limp mode...

What do you mean with "exact dimensions"?
The car is overall 20 cm wider in the rear (8") and 16 cm in front (6,3"). Wheel base is extended 35 mm, and many many other things.
It took about three years on and off to complete the build and the design and manufacturing of all molds and chassis.

No plans to sell parts of the molds, not yet anyway. Would be to expensive to market and to difficult to ship. We are located in Sweden and its far away form the US.

But things can change, and it might be for sale in future.

Ok, i guess its time to write some technical information about the car, if you dont mind.

Some short and basic information:

Body: BMW E28 w/o sunroof, rebuilt to coupé, extended FIA safety rollcage, raceweight aprox ~1100kg with driver. Vented body - 200mm (8") wider in rear, 160mm (6.3") wider in front.
Engine: BMW S38B38 (6-cyl 3.8l-24v 365hk/8000rpm)
Gearbox: Getrag 260, shortshifted 5-speed.
Final drive: BMW M3 Group A limited slip, 4 different gear ratios available.
Front brakes: 6-piston aluminum calipers, 330mm (13") rotors.
Rear brakes: 4-piston aluminum calipers, 303mm (12") rotors.
Wheels front: 10x17” BBS (rain), 10.5x16” BBS (slick).
Wheels rear: 12x17” BBS (rain), 13x16” BBS (slick).
Tires front: 275-17” rain, 11,0-23,5-16” slick.
Tires rear: 335-17” rain, 12,5-25-16” slicks.
chassis / suspension front: BMW Motorsport/Schnitzer 635CSi Grp.A. Suspension arms extended to allow more aggressive settings, wheelbase extended by 40 mm (1.6"), and track width extended by 80mm (3.1").
chassis / suspension rear: BMW Motorsport/Schnitzer 635CSi Grp.A, Suspension arms fully adjustable for camber/caster and toe. Reinforced A-arms and all stiff mounted joints, no rubber in attachement points.

A lot of the spec is similar to the E9 3.5 CSL when it comes to tire dimensions and type, spring setting is also similar to the ancient race car, shock settings are similar to the classic E24 635 factory racers and the data has been partly collected from BMW Motorsport, Germany.
The rollcage is a copy of the one used for 1982 ETCC winner BMW 528i E28 once the aluminum cage was cancelled.

There is a lot more to write, but this is what comes to mind at this point. Let me know what you need information about, and I will be hapy to provide you all with it.

why did you mount the fuel cell so high? and no straps to help hold it in place?? not sure it would pass tech in the States??

The fuelcell is mounted right above the floor, the lowest point of the fuelcell is the suction ports in the rear of it as seen on the picture.
Its attached with 1x1" square washers to avoid the bolt to slip through the four feets of the fuelcell, No straps needed according to euro regulations and the design is very ridgid.

Not racing in the states so Euro regulations will do just fine (FIA).

No pics of the front suspension at this point, will have a look to see if i can find any.

Car actually handles very well, got rid of the understeer i had before by rising the rear suspension a little bit, and its now a lot more "easy driven".

All race I was struggeling with the fact that the ECU engine electronics went into limp mode and after 1.5 laps from the race start the engine dropped down from 8000 rpm to 6500 rpm as its max limit. This also made the competitors behind to catch up a little and i had to start braking very late in the end of the long straight to keep my place, unfortunately, some car had dropped coolant fluid on this spot a lap before and i didnt get the proper grip on the final lap, so i went from 4´th place to DNF in 5 seconds

Another movie clip from the outside for you guys:

race on!
